Patented self regulation heater with soothing steam penetration to nasal, sinus and throat passages
Customer Reviews

Best Bang For The Buck! - Jimmy Dean "Jimmy" on Jan 24, 2007

I purchased the Inhaler after reviewing other comparable devices on the Internet. What sold me was the price and the name brand.

I've been using it whenever my sinus is blocked and it does a great job. Very low maintenance and the cost (water + a bit of electricity) is close to nothing to what it uses.

The face mask (I'll call it that) fits me well but I usually keep my head a few inches away when the steam really starts to engage. I surely don't want to fry my nasal passages and it could easily do that if I continue to keep my face right up to the mask.

I know I could use those menthol pads but the cost is high even searching around on the internet for lower costs. What I did instead is purchase those pocket Vicks inhalers that is not only cheap but very effective too! I usually stop for 30 seconds between steam sessions and inhale through each nostril about three times and then continue on with 5-10 minute sessions doing this for 20 minutes or so. Works real well.

I think the device will last me years and years and the maintenance with white vinegar is also low cost!

A Must Have For Singers And Speakers - Beth Botsis on Nov 16, 2005

This great little device is an essential for singers and speakers, especially those who suffer allergies. (Allergy sufferers who aren't singers or speakers would benefit too.) Steam is the number 1 treatment prescribed by my otolaryngologist when experiencing allergy, cold, or other respiratory/vocal symptoms. My personal steamer travels easily with me, tucked into the corner of a carry-on size suitcase. When you're on the road presenting or performing, it can be a life saver. Much better than a towel over your head and a pan of boiling water too (and safer). I recommend personal steamers to all my voice students. It's true, as another reviewer wrote, that you can buy this less expensively at your local WalMart or Target store, but even at this price, it's a winner.

I LOVE It! - Leslie Solomon "Lope on Jun 7, 2005

I received my personal steamer today; it's compact, requires no assembly, is easy to use and the flow of steam is adjustable. The face mask is relatively comfortable and it was relaxing to inhale warm, moist air during the treatment. Cleaning instructions appear to be simple. As promised, sinus and chest congestion were loosened during the first treatment. I highly recommend this product.

Awesome Product - Angelsing on Apr 17, 2006

I read the reviews good and bad before and purchased and I'm
so glad I purchased the inhaler anyway. I was concerned about
the amount of steam the unit produced based on one review, and I assure you, his/her item must have been broken. The unit literally boils the water and produces alot of steam. As a matter of fact I turned the unit off because it got a bit too hot for me, then just enjoyed the leftover steam. I'm a singer and need a little compact unit like this to take with me. The face piece is so soft and very comfortable. Enjoy.

Great Product But Won't Last Long If Your Not Careful - Glenn Again on Nov 28, 2006

I really like this product and it helps me clear my stuffy nose. However, in a relatively short time, the who unit began to fall apart. The plastic literally caved in. I like it so much that I went out of my way to glue it all back together again with Gorilla Glue. Now I don't have problems with it PLUS I only used DISTILLED water in the unit. Unfortunatly, the instructions never said any type of water and I do believe this may have nearly done the unit in. So used distilled water. Also, the instructions say don't add anything to the water. However, I enjoy putting in the few drops of eucalyptus oil

OK ... - S. Kumar on Mar 16, 2007

Steam generation was less vigorous than i hoped for - but at least repeated use does NOT redden your face or nose. Huge downside is needs specialized & Expensive medicated pads - 6 for $7 . Will not let us use regular Vicks or liquid vicks medicated additive. Anyone looking for just steam should be the only one buying. Otherwise should pass. Smaller in size than expected ...

Possible Safety Hazard - chinquapin on Nov 4, 2010

I have been using the unit for about three weeks now. It performs as advertised, however the unit's base began to crack and fall apart after about a week and a half. I salvaged the cord, heater pot and switch and fabricated a new case. Also, I have been putting three drops of cinnamon, thyme, and clove essential oils each in the water with excellent results. This wiped out my chronic sinusitis in just three days. This result came after three months involving four rounds of antibiotics and four steroid tapers. I know that Vick's cautions against this, but I think that they just want to sell their expensive vapor pads. It is interesting to note that the substance on the vapor pads is thyme extract. I got my essential oils from Ananda Apothecary online. Please note that you should close your eyes when inhaling oil infused steam, and rinse your face with cold water when you are done.

Effecient And Effective - JAllen "The cautious on Nov 19, 2006

This product really works to open nasal passages and relieve congestion.
Follow the instructions. Using it for a 5 minute session 3 times a day really did the trick. The first two days I got releif and could sleep all night but would still get congested. On the 3rd day the gates opens and the drainage was terrific. I am getting one for my grown son that has allergies worse than I do .

Vicks Steamer - Louisa May Alcott "M on Jan 31, 2007

It is an excellent product. It delivers a concentrated warm steam to the nose and sinus areas. The funnel is made of soft material and the unit is compact and can easily be stored almost anywhere. It would be easy to take along when traveling. The water heats up rapidly. It does cost about $10 more than facial saunas at Walgreens or Wal Mart but the features I mentioned above make it worth the extra money in my opinion.

Mighty Mite - JSpangler "CALGal" on Jun 26, 2007

This "personal" steam inhaler is as small and lightweight as it could be and do the job as advertised. The base diameter is 5 1/2 inches & the assembled height of the unit is 8 1/4 inches. The clear, plastic mask covers nose and mouth; the plastic is soft and well-shaped. One's face is best held a little away from the mask because the steam can be very hot. The product is well made. Recommended.

Headache Relief - Jim on Apr 11, 2009

My wife bought this little steam inhaler for me a few years back because she thought it might help relieve my headaches after I noticed that a long, hot shower would bring me pain relief. A real miracle in my opinion! I don't know what kind of headaches I get (sinus? maybe) but whenever they're bad, I use this little guy, and I would say 95% of the time, within 20 minutes of inhaling the steam, the headache is GONE. I can't say this will work for your headaches, but it has for me and it lets me start functioning again. Just be careful when you first use it - you need to adjust the opening for the right amount of steam and gauge how close you get to the facepiece so you don't burn yourself, because the water is literally boiling. I'm ordering another one for the office. Good luck!

Pretty Good One - Vadim.Zip on Aug 28, 2008

I got my Vicks Steam Inhaler a few days ago. I had been choosing between it and the Mabis one. However, the latter costs $20 more so I decided to go with this one considering almost identical review ratings. I would rate it with 4.5 starts, not with 5. There is still a little room for improvement. It is pretty compact and quick. It starts producing steam in about 4 minutes. Yes, you can regulate the amount of steam. But I found that hot air makes me breath faster and, as a result, there is not enough steam produced by the machine between my breaths. Fortunately, I came up with a nice and simple solution. The mask has a few holes in it to mix the steam with some fresh air. If I cover with my fingers some or all three holes I get enough steam with every inhalation. It's pretty convenient, at least, for me and allows to (manually) regulate the amount of steam.
Another thing important for me was a possibility to use oil. Neither Vicks or Mabis inhaler assume that you can directly add aroma oil to water. Both brands sale their own inhaler pads designed to work with their machines. But the choice of oils is very limited. By the way, the Vicks Inhaler comes with a disposable pad good for one time use. Some people reported that they had still added a few drops of oil. For some it worked fine, for the others it didn't work that well screwing in some way the water heating surface. What I did is I bought this refill kit (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000XPX1HG) and it's been working great for me. You can put a pad directly on the plastic thing with the holes the steam comes out. The only difference with the original pad is form but it works great. It does not mess with the water heating surface and you can refill those cotton pads with any oil you want. For the future, I'm going to buy cotton pads and oil separately. I prefer to use calendula and there is no pads or kits coming with calendula extract.

Great Product, Needs Re-engineering - Diane on Oct 22, 2009

We have owned this product for many years and have found it very effective in preventing and treating colds, bronchitis, and sinus infections. However, we owned the previously made product by KAZ and found it to be a much superior product for the same purpose. Sadly, Vicks bought the KAZ product and KAZ no longer makes the old version. The Vicks product plastic cone (that you put your face into) has an odd angle for face placement, and is too tall/high and easily tips, thus spilling boiling water onto your lap or chest. Be careful with this and wear a thick blanket "bib" to protect yourself from burns. Be sure to supervise children who use this product. We did not have this same stability problem with the KAZ made product. That being said. This product is still extremely effective in treating upper respiratory problems, much cheaper than medications and drugs, and much better for the body. Product states that you can put eucalyptus (mentholatum or vicks type products) into the water, but know that these products shuts down the cillia movement in the nasal passages and bronchial tubes, and is counterproductive.

Great Personal Steamer - H. G. Valladares "He on Aug 3, 2007

I received my personal steamer yesterday and it really works...Online it says that you could use it for 15 minutes but when I timed it last night,I swear, you could use it for 30 minutes..unbelievable for a very small device but you can definitely use it that long...Also, I like the fact that I can carry it anywhere and that it doesn't moisten the whole room because the face mask blocks the steam from going everywhere and makes it focus on certain areas of your face. The only downside that I can see so far is that the face mask, the smell of plastic really annoys me but I think that's just because it's still new..maybe it'll fade away after using it several times. I also gave it 4 stars because I don't like the way it was designed. The container for the water is a bit smaller than I expected it but then again, it holds up enough water that will last you 30 minutes. And one last thing, you should make sure to put the device in a stable place.NEVER EVER put in on the bed because the hot water can spill since it has 2 holes on the side.I would have probably given it 5 stars and more if it were not for these two dislikeable features..but overall, it's worth every penny.

Horrible Toxic Smell, Why Would You Make The Boiling Surface Plastic? - truth1ness on Mar 19, 2011

I bought this because it looked like an upgrade to my Conair facial sauna/steamer for inhaling steam with the adjustable steam control and soft face mask. What I don't understand is how anyone can inhale this steam. The pot where the water boiled is PLASTIC coated with TEFLON (or some non-stick coating). I wouldn't rate the product badly just based on seeing that there's plastic in it, but you can clearly smell the plastic/teflon in the steam. Some people say it's the soft plastic in the mask (as if it makes a difference where it's coming from, it all goes to your lungs) but I took it off and smelled the steam directly and the smell is definitely coming from the boiling plate. Maybe the smell goes away after a number of uses, but that's because you've inhaled it all by that point. Would you boil tea in a plastic teflon coated kettle and inhale the steam while it's heating up? I'll stick with the Conair unit even though it doesn't have the extra little features because the boiling pot is made of uncoated metal and the face mask is a hard rigid plastic (less comfortable but less smelly).

Compact And Convenient Product - A. Delara on Nov 13, 2006

I am very satisfied with this product. It is very easy to use and yet small enough to carry wherever you go.

This Is Exactly What I Was Looking For. - Aligned on Jun 25, 2008

I have frequent issues with my sinuses and am always trying to stave off a sinus infection, and, I'm not a big fan of medication. I read about how humidifiers can help with sinus issues, but didn't want to turn my apartment into a sauna.

I read some of the one and two-star reviews and was a bit concerned about the steam output, but I found that this little contraption almost produces too much steam; just like a hot shower, it takes a minute to get acclimated to the heat. This evening I have completed two full treatments and have now regained the use of my nose.

My only issues with this device are that, for one, the little rubber feet were a little uneven (I fixed that). Secondly, the therapeutic disc included with this product seemed worthless (although that could be due to my congested nose).

However, this product does what it claims. So for that, it gets all five stars from me. If only I could find a way to get this to run on batteries and glue it to my face.

Excellent Product - MaeMae on Dec 27, 2007

I purchased the Inhaler and a supply of the aromatic pads about a month ago. Used it for the first time recently when flu/cold complicated my breathing. This item truly delivers! After two 10-15 minutes sessions, my nasal passages were clear and the chest congestion eased. I highly recommend this product to chronic respiratory sufferers.

Easy Inhaler - J. Doucette on Mar 16, 2007

Easy to use. Easy to clean. Best part is that your eyes are not in direct line of the steam which makes it easier to stay over the steam and get the benefits of breathing in to help your sinus problems.

Old Fashioned Remedies Work - Mac devotee on Apr 12, 2008

Steam inhalation really is the way to go for sinus issues, colds, asthma and many respiratory issues. This sure beats standing over a pot of hot water on the stove with a towel over you!

I originally got a personal steamer for my daughter's asthma 13 years ago. It really helped when she had taken multiple doses of her bronchial dilator and was shaking from the medication, but still having trouble breathing. The warm mist really helped.

Later I used it for treatment of sinus and upper respiratory bugs. Now there is all kinds of research on the benefits of warm steam therapy.

Our Vicks finally died after a long and helpful life, so I replaced it with one just like it. I couldn't find one in the stores and was relieved to find it on Amazon.

Two picky notes: the steam is a bit hard to adjust - you end up leaning in or out to control the steam as much as using the dial control. Also, you need to make sure you clean it after a few uses and DEFINITELY when you are putting it away for a while. Mine might still be working if I had done that.

Great For Laryngitis Problems! - Bev Crossly on Jul 28, 2007

A voice therapist recommended this because I have lots of laryngitis during the winter. Our local WalMart quit carrying these personal inhalers so I found it on Amazon. I've used it about three years for occasional hoarseness and laryngitis due to allergies and winter dryness. Definitely helps! It only holds about two T. water so you have to be careful letting it warm up. With my new one I will ALWAYS set a timer.

Really Helps, No Kidding - Edward Lee "Apec Ed" on Mar 22, 2007

The unit works great to relief my nasal congestion due to flu, it is very easy to use, no problems at all.

Works Great - joetagaz "joetagaz" on Feb 17, 2007

Works as advertised. Small, easy to use, lots of steam. Does a terrific job.

Better Choices For Me ... - J. Blattman "Jeff" on Nov 29, 2010

i bought this because i have chronic dry nose / sinuses.

first, you can easily burn yourself with this thing. when it is warmed up, putting your face all the way onto it *will* burn you. scalding your nostrils is no joke. it needs to have a longer stem portion or something. i'm surprised they aren't getting sued.

other than that, it works, but there are better options, for me at least. a small ultrasonic humidifier is about the same price and produces more, denser vapor that is easier to inhale as it is cool. it also holds more water and can be used generally as a humidifier for a room, where this one cannot as it holds only enough water for 10 minutes or so and it must be watched closely to ensure it hasn't run dry. it won't automatically shut off it just sits there cooking itself.

Great For Sinus Relief - H. Friedman on Jul 26, 2011

I have used this product for years for Sinus Relief. Add your favorite Eucalyptus oil extract (1-3 drops ONLY!) to the mix and you have some great sinus relief power. There is a plastic slider that allows you to adjust the flow of the steam which is very helpful when the steam is flowing at it's max, since it gets very hot. If you find that you are not getting enough steam, check to make sure that the vent is opened fully. This Inhaler takes a bit of time to boil the water, especially if the water is cold, so give it a chance. When the steam does get very hot, adjust the vent, keep your face further way from the device and/or turn the power off until it's needed to reboil. If you have serious sinus pain and want instant relief, I would highly recommend using this product or any other steam inhaler. It opens up the sinus cavities and allows your sinuses to drain... which is what is causing the sinus pressure. The Eucalyptus oil helps to open up the passage ways and lubricate the inside of your nose so it doesn't get that dried up feeling. Some people have mentioned that they don't like the plastic smell of this device, but since I add Eucalyptus Oil, I never smelled that before.

I love this product but at the same time I wish it was water proof and had temperature control. The outer shell is just plastic and a bit flimsy with no seals, making the cleanup process very difficult, especially when used with Eucalyptus oil (1-3 drops only!), so be careful and make sure that this inhaler dries before reusing it.

I would give this product 5 stars if it was water resistant or water proof, for cleanup purposes!

WARNING: ALWAYS use with water, as per instructions. This is a Steam Inhaler, after all. Adding a drop or two of your fav oil is benficial but using this device exclusively to boil other liquids and OIls, is very dangerous and can cause serious harm.

Vicks Personal Steamer - Linda M. Paz on May 20, 2009

I LOVED THIS! Just got over a bought with bronchitis and this was incredible. Once I started using it I could breath again. IT really helped me and wish I had this when the kids were little. Now I am using it with the Grandkids for croup and it works so good!

Steam Inhaler - S.J QUAN "s.j. quan" on Feb 2, 2011

My wife caught a very bad cold from an office worker who would not go home and my wife doesn't get colds. I am 71 and was raised using Vick rub. The advice nurse recommended that my wife take hot showers to get the steam. I read about these inhalers and figured she could use one of these, stay in bed rest which she did and the steam worked. I read some of the negative reports but I put it this way when I had a real bad cold I put Vick's rub on my chest, nose and temple, drink brandy with lemon and tea which makes you sweat but you must keep covered or you will get more of a chest cold because Vicks open the pours of the skin. The inhaler helped clear the air passage. Now about the pads I disagree with that. I can take one of my old T-Shirts cut it into a pad size and put some Vick's rub on it and it servers as the expensive pads Vicks want you to buy or you can put some Vicks on your nose and then use the inhaler. One point I am not a doctor and I don't recommend putting too much Vicks on the nose or in the nose. I do this for me because it worked for me and talking to some of the old doctors and nurses they knew what I was talking about.

When I came home from Viet Nam I was very sick I remember Vicks was put on me and I was out for several days lifeless and wet with sweat. I hope this helps someone.

Good Inhaler, But It Could Have A Medication Cup - A. Sinitsyna on Nov 20, 2009

It is a good product overall, but you can't use anything except KAZ pads with this product. I have a cold and I want to use some medications (liquid and drops), but it doesn't allow to put anything into the water. Also it comes only with 1 menthol pad, so make sure that you ordered them as well. It says that you need to use more than 1 pad or put 1 pad into the water under the cup. Also you can't use them more than once. Pack of 6 pads is $7. It is the same system like with toners for printers. Even if the printer is cheap, toner will eat all the money.

Great For Colds, Flu, And Administering Vitamin B-12 - J. D. Laughead "jdla on Mar 26, 2009

The product was way beyond my expatiations, and it works very well, plenty of steam, and the steam adjust slide worked great.

I was taking nasal B-12, for stuffed up nose, and a slight cold, but wasn't working that well. So I put a half of a dropper of Ener-B in the water,in the inhaler,

I couldn't believe the results, first off it cleared up my nose, and stopped the cold. I was over fatigued and depressed, well it really woke me up, and made me alive.

What B-12 does, is create more oxygen in the blood, which can make your mind move faster. Nasal B-12 can also Destroy the Flu & Cold Viruses [...].

I think this is a Great product, and is well made and designed. It has make me feel great, and the Price is Right!

Not That Great! - Jeff "Herodotex" on Dec 31, 2007

I found that there wasn't enough steam produced to be effective! I have bad sinus allergies and my doctor recommended I inhale steam either in a steam room or through a device to help cleanse my sinus cavities.
When I saw this on Amazon I thought it would be perfect; small, light weight and I could really isolate the steam to my nasal area.

Well it doesn't produce enough steam for anything!! I don't know how any of the people who have reviewed the product were able to loosen congestion. It was a complete lack of money and now it is just stored under a cabinet somewhere.

If you are looking for a product that produces a lot of steam, then SKIP THIS ONE!!!

This Was A Lifesaver. - A. Conner "earthslee on Oct 19, 2011

I've been using this product without the medication pads (just plain steam) an average of once a day for a couple of weeks. For years I've suffered the turmoil of living with asthma in a dry, high pressure, high altitude climate where dry eyes, allergies, and other assorted icons of suffering thrive. It hasn't been pleasant to say the least. In fact moving has been at the front of my mind in large part due to these symptoms that most are powerless to avoid without expensive prescription medication.

For years my eyes have felt like fresh sandpaper. My throat felt as tight as a fist. The sinus pressure resembled handfulls of cotton stuffed into my forehead. When I could no longer take it lying down I ordered this product out of desperation and so far after two weeks I can't understand why I didn't do it sooner.

Don't get me wrong. I understand that everyone's body is different and everyone's climate is unique but for myself my eyes at first contact to the steam, began to sting. They then felt smooth like the skin of fresh glass. My breathing became complete and my sinus' cleared like a spring day after a violent storm.

I may still move to warmer places in the world but if I do at least I'll have something to aid my allergy weary days when Spring begins to beat down my door like an unwelcomed mugger. This contraption didn't cure any of my ailments, but it allowed me to endure them with a splinter of ease and comfort.

I'm Happy! - SQI<<< on Jul 10, 2011

I bought the Vicks inhaler to help during the dry winter months. I've only used it a few times, but it's been great!
The therapy keeps my nose and mouth relaxed, even in what I perceive to be extremely dry conditions.

I was concerned with the reviews that mentioned that the steam was extremely hot, but I haven't really experience that. As it shows in the box's illustration, your face is not supposed to be resting on the inhaler, but a little above it. Between that, and the steam control option, I've been perfectly fine :)

The only strange/weird thing I would list is the slightly plastic-y aroma of the steam, which I think comes from the top half of the inhaler. It doesn't bother me much, but as steam is supposed to be a clean way of clearing your air passages, it seems strange. Maybe it's because my steamer is still new and it'll go away with use, but just keep an eye out for it.

Would recommend this product!

Convenient And Relatively Safe Steam Inhalation Therapy - D. Henderson on Jan 1, 2011

Before I got this personal steam inhaler, I was boiling water in a pot and trying to breathe that steam: That steam was way too hot and I lose steam after about five minutes. This is a convenient way to breathe steam for what may ail you. I add about ten drops of Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) which I think is like using GSE nasal spray, only the steam should reach higher into my nasal passages. In less than five minutes after turning the switch on, steam begins coming out. Even though the water in the reservoir is boiling (212

Great Steam Inhaler - Clara Sandler "clara on Jun 22, 2010

I bought this inhaler during spring allergy season. I am a singer and had a performance in June. It is great and inexpensive!

Killed My Sinus Attacks Twice Now....without Other Drugs. - Neal Schultz "hegemo on Dec 30, 2009

Works Well To Clear Stuffy Sinuses - Church Lady on Feb 5, 2011

I suffer from year round allergies. In addition to medication, I regularly use a neti pot which helps to clear my sinuses. However, with winter in full blast, I needed more than just a neti pot to soothe my dry and stuffy sinuses. I knew that it was time to pull my Vicks Personal Steam Inhaler from the closet shelf.

This machine is easy to use but be warned that the steam it produces is VERY hot. Here are my suggestions for using this machine:

Place the steamer on a flat stable surface.
Fill the base with water, turn on the machine and let the water fully heat.
Slide the lever all the way to the right to allow for the greatest volume of steam.
Place a towel over your head. A clean kitchen towel works well for this.
Keep the towel over your head and place your face a few inches above the clear plastic hood. Because of the temperature of the steam, it is very important that you do not rest your face directly on the clear plastic hood
Let the towel drape over your head and over the plastic hood. This helps creates a tent to hold in the steam.
After using the steamer, rinse your face with cool water to close the blood vessels in your face.

I find that adding a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil directly onto the little inhalant disks (optional) really helps to clear my sinuses. Please note that the steam will cause your nose to run (this is what you want) so make sure that you keep your tissues handy.

Caution: Because of the heat of the steam, I would not recommend this product for use by children.

Concern Father - D. Lee "cd and dvd l on Jan 18, 2008

excellent product, it helps one of my twin boys termendously. no more breathing treatment with all these medicines. Natural steam is so much better. Bought my mother one and she loves it too. No more coughing at night.

A Lifesaver Literally! - Zhinka Chunmee "game on Aug 17, 2011

I am currently recovering from bronchial pneumonia and pleurisy.
This little unit has been the one thing that has allowed me to catch a few breaths lately. I had been taking (along with the meds the doc gave me) Nyquil and Equate brand cough medicine. The liquid cough medicines did nothing to help me breathe and stop coughing. This steamer gave me the necessary relief so that I was now able to lie down and sleep for 2 hours straight!

Great Product, Very Easy - shristi on Mar 15, 2011

I was breathing in steam from a pot of boiling water...while wearing a towel over my head to direct the steam. Now I don't have to worry with that! This inhaler starts producing steam in about 30 sec...and the amount of water it holds is perfect for one session.

Good Steamer - JAMRUL MIAH on Feb 9, 2011

I was really impressed with this little steamer ! Very simple to use and operate, and the steam last 30 minutes. I also add some apple cider vinegar or hydrogen peroxide to help clear my sinuses. After a few minutes of using to inhale, I remove the plastice inhaler tube and move my face around the steam vents to use as a mini facial. Be careful not to get too close you will get burned !

Vicks Multi Voltage??? STEAMER - famicodoze on Jan 25, 2011

The item worked fine after I took the risk of plugging it in. In Australia the voltage is 240V not 110 like in the US. It would help to have that information either in the manual,on the box or written on the inhaler itself!!!

I recall the web page saying it was multi voltage and therefore purchased it. Still, it took 10 minutes to decide on plugging it in. Another thing is that the item looks different from the picture identified. Logo is different and plastic quality on the mouth piece is less.
I am comparing this Inhaler to an earlier model of the Kaz steamer (Which actually was made in the US in 2004 - $150 US).

This newer model looks better and heats up quicker($30 US), so that is a plus. The cheapness is explained by those wonderful manufacturing people ruling the world right now in China. You dont need tanks. Just an undervalued currency it seems.

As usual, 'it's the little things that matter'. I like this steamer and it does what it should.

Generate Steam Fast - T. L. Chen "tlc89" on Nov 11, 2010

The Vicks Personal Steam Inhaler generates steam fast, much faster than my old one. Though initially the steam comes with Teflon smell which is kind of bad. This inhaler is good for sinus relief especially for people with bad seasonall allergies.

Great Product - Mom of 2 boys on Dec 6, 2008

I just bought this yesterday as I have a terrible chest cold. My throat and chest were hurting from coughing. After just the first try of the product, there was no longer any soar throat or chest. It took a few minutes to produce a good steam, but once it did it worked great. In just 5-10 minutes you get the relief that you need. While I paid more for my steam inhaler at a retailer yesterday, it was worth every cent for the relief. I have to travel in a few days and plan to take it with me since it's so compact.

Works Great And Helps A Lot - William Polm on Jul 14, 2008

I went from a cough the resulted from a cold to an allergic cough that lasted over 6 weeks. I ordered the personal steam inhaler and after a few days of use, the cough started going away, and it is gone now. Also, as soon as I started using it, I noticed my tight chest cough loosening some. I'm glad I have this, because when those allergies kick in I have effective help at hand, in addition to a saline nasal inhaler.

GREAT Product For Singers! - TheSingerNB "TheSing on May 5, 2008

I think this is a GREAT Product. Being a Las Vegas Entertainer who sings nightly.. this has been my saving grace. Las Vegas is a desert climate & there's hardly any moisture in the air.. which means it can be tuff on singers. So, this personal steamer is a must buy for any singer!

Vicks Personal Steam Inhaler - Marjorie Bain on Feb 6, 2007

This is my second inhaler. I use it twice a day when I am having bronchitis and asthma. It helps open my head and moisturizes my nostrils and makes me feel so much better. I use the menthol strips with it also.

Cheap, Ineffective Junk - LRoberts "Sam" on May 17, 2011

Save your money. This is yet one more mini vapor device that is not worth the money. Summary of issues:

- Does not put out that much steam
- The rubber facial unit does not stay put
- Not easy to move around
- Easily leaks out water
- Potentially dangerous due to leaks and poor quality of plastic parts.

This is the second vicks vaporizer product I have bought and I will no longer buy their products. You would be far better off buying a good quality facial steamer where the water is completely contained, much easier to move around and where you can safely direct the steam where you need it.

Has Been A Lifesaver For Me - O's Mommy on Dec 18, 2011

I have owned this steam inhaler for many years and I have definitely gotten my money's worth. I have severe sinus pain in the fall when the air gets dry...as well as seasonal allergies. I use a nasal spray, but this inhaler is the only relief I get form the pain and pressure. Just a few minutes of treatment and I can resume my normal activities. I am a teacher and have taken it with me to work at times to help me get through the day when I've had extreme sinus drainage. It has gotten much use!!

Great Little Steamer - Alexandra Sakurets on Dec 3, 2011

We love this steamer!!! The kids and I use it all winter during the cold/flu season. I have added a few drops of eucalyptus oil and ir works great to clear sinuses and open up the lungs.
