This Little Insurance Policy Could Save You Hundreds! - Paul Gabriel Wiener on Mar 24, 2009

No, it's not sold by a gecko. But it is definitely an insurance policy. My old insulin case fell off the shelf while I was drawing up a dose. It was only a couple of feet, but the brand new bottle of Lantus shattered. The case was ruined, the smell was awful, and over $100 worth of insulin was lost.

I found these cute little insulin cozies when I came to look for a new case. The short one fits my Novolog bottle, and the tall one fits the Lantus. The material fits the bottles snugly, and provides a thick, dense cushion all the way around. The padding on the bottom is just a little thinner, but the bottle is still well-protected. Hopefully, it'll be a long time before I drop another bottle, but if I do, I'll be in a much better situation.

The colors are bright and make identification of different bottles very easy. (As long as you remember which bottle gets which color...)

It's easy to get bottles back out, too. Just push on that thinner area on the bottom. The bottle moves easily, but stays under control. It won't pop out, but the top will come just far enough that you can get a good grip on it. Also useful if you want to take a quick look to see how much is left inside.

There are only two disadvantages. One is that the cushioning makes the bottles larger. You may need to find a new case. But at least you won't have to worry about them being tossed around and broken if left loose.

The other is the lack of transparency. You have to push part of the bottle out to see how much is left, and you have to pull the whole bottle out if you forget which kind of insulin is inside. A little plastic window might be a nice addition, if they could do it safely and cheaply.

Still, any way you look at it, it's a small price to pay to protect such an expensive, life-saving medicine.

A Must-Have For Diabetics On Insulin! - W. Riggens on Dec 31, 2010

I bought two of these, one in pink, and one in blue, for my Humalog and Novolin, and found that it also fits Novolog. They fit nice and snug around the vials, with the top of the vial just flush with the top of the protector. I use the pink for my Humalog and blue for Novolog, so that I don't get them mixed up, but I can still see the top of the vials to know I am using the right one.

Two days after I started using these, I dropped a bottle of Humalog. It hit the ground and just kind of bounced and stopped, absolutely no damage to the vial. I am sure that wouldn't have been the case if I had not put the cover on it!

I love the colors, too!

More Than Paid For Itself! - H. Williams on Mar 16, 2010

I ordered both the short (Humalog) and tall (Lantus) versions of this item for my husband. I don't remember which just more than paid for them both - but they are each golden! He accidently dropped a brand new bottle on the floor (a previous drop "pre-Securitee Blanket" resulted in broken glass/lost $/insulin smell). Now that the bottle was in the "Blanket" it suffered NO DAMAGE! Considering the cost of replacing one of these bottles - these more than paid for themselves already!

Great Idea! - D. Runski "D. Runski on Nov 22, 2008

What a great idea! These come in handy when traveling and you need to take extra insulin along. I get very nervous that we will drop the insulin vial while on vacation and find ourselves short with no way to get more. This gives me a little more confidence when going on extended trips.

A Life Saver For A Klutz ! - John on Feb 15, 2011

Due to a neurological problem, I am quite clumsy. When I started on insulin, I worried that I would drop the vial. Since I often drop things, this is no idle concern. These vial holders are the perfect solution. As others note, the vial fits snugly into the cushion. However, it is easy to squeeze the vial out to inspect the insulin and to remove and/or change the vial. But the cushion does as advertised. Yup. I already put it to the test. Fortunately, there was no problem with the cushion in place.

I got a tall blue one for my Lantus and this short lime one for my Humalog. Simple color coding to help avoid the mistake of using the wrong vial.

Definitely recommend this.

Awesome - OneTwinWithDiabetes on Nov 21, 2011

My son was diagnosed 4 years ago with Type 1 diabetes. I wish I could count how many bottles of insulin that has been dropped and broken. We thought of several things to try but nothing worked. We found these and they are AWESOME and SO worth the money! No more unexpected broken vials. My 6 year old is a VERY happy little boy!!!

Great Protection - Y. Cluff on Aug 23, 2011

I have reviewed several insulin vial protectors and so far this is the best one but has some shortcomings as well.

Good things are: easy to slide bottle in and out, great protection, easy to handle (not slippery), keeps vial cooler longer.

Not so good things are: more expensive, one size (may need to cut it to fit), Can't read the vial label, can't see how much is left in vial, and last but not least the construction of it is not very good. The glue joints come apart after a few months but they can be repaired.

Great Fit - Tom Fuller on Jul 21, 2011

This items fits very well and keeps the insulin cold for a very long time. It reminds me of the beer can cooler!

Great Protection - Marte "InfMom" on Apr 25, 2011

After dropping one insulin vial in the sink and breaking it, I thought it'd be a good idea to get one of these. It works like a charm, and makes it easy to tell at a glance which of the two kinds of insulin I've picked up. I just have to make sure I pull the bottle out now and again to see how much is left.

Finally Feel Safe - BRG "Blinky Jones" on Nov 27, 2010

I finally feel a little safer carrying my vial of Lantus with this vial protector. I was always afraid of dropping it and the vial shattering and losing all my medicine and money. Thank god for this product. Now I need a smaller one for my Humalog lol.

Colorful Securitees - Mary H on Nov 11, 2010

I bought two in the green and hot pink. They are great when I have to carry my insulin bottles - I don't worry about dropping them. When I think that it is near the end of the bottle, I just push from the bottom and can easily view the level (upside down, of course) .... very nice!

Awesome Product!! - jalisa1996 on Jul 31, 2010

These little insulin "coozies" are a life saver!! No more worries about dropping the vial and shattering the glass. Insurance only covers one bottle a month, so dropping and breaking the vial could cost hundreds of dollars! These coozies fit snuggly over the vials and you can easily draw the insulin with them on. Especially helpful with younger kids who may be drawing their own insulin. Be sure to order the proper size for the type of insulin you are using them for. I also love the colors so it is easy to grab the right vial. If you have a diabetic in the family, especially a child, these vials are a must have!!!

Great Protection For An Expensive Vial - Calinae on Sep 12, 2009

This provided great protection for the expensive glass vial of insulin. This case should come standard with every vial!

Neat Idea, Don't Use It As Much As I Thought I Would - D. Gadsden on Jan 14, 2008

A really cool idea especially if you've ever dropped an insulin bottle before and had to pay out of pocket for a new one! I just don't use it as much as I expected to, especially since we're on the pump and don't have to take insulin everywhere with us anymore. Good idea if you have tile floors!

Diabetes Stinks! - S. Arensdorf "1st Ti on Sep 7, 2010

This is not the first vial protector sleeve I've purchased. Our 5-year-old son started kindergarten this year, so I needed an additional one for his vial of insulin that is kept at school. If you've ever broken a vial before you know that it makes a mess and is 'stinky.' These do the trick! I would recommend to anyone using vials of medicine.
