I've been using Sombra for quite some time now and have found few similar items that can compare.

I've used the typical over-the-counter stuff like Icy Hot and Ben Gay along with more specialized items like Biofreeze. But among these, Sombra is clearly the best. Why you may ask, well:

1.It doesn't have that less than pleasant artificial hospital-like scent. Instead, it has a very pleasing and mild floral scent that is OK for even the most sensitive noses.

2.It's natural and doesn't come with all the added chemicals of the others.

3.It's affordable.

4.It works quickly and generally without any uncomfortable stinging sensations.

I've only found one product better but unlike Sombra, it can cause allergic reactions in some people.

I'd recommend this to anyone.

This product is very good when one has a sore muscle or arthritic joints. You just have to be careful to wash it off your hands so you don't get it in your eyes.

I've been using Sombra Natural Pain Warm Theraphy Gel for years and it is the very best product I've found for Arthritis and I've probably tried 20 other ones! It provides enough relief that I don't have to take my narcotic pain pills hardly ever anymore. Do yourself a favor and try this one if you have Arthritis.

The gel is called warm therapy, but to me it feels menthol cool a few minutes after application. I have "frozen shoulder" which causes pain in my shoulder, biceps, elbow, wrist, and back of neck at times. Using this gel, provides some relief. I recommend it.

This product has camphor and menthol as active ingredients and things like aloe vera, capsaicin, green tea extract, etc. added. Heard about it from a mountain biking relative who uses it before he rides. I use it for arthritis in my hands, neck pain, back or other body aches and a lot more. When used, it has a menthol scent which dissipates and it provides a gentle warmth as it eases the pain in sore muscles and other aches. We have recommended it to family and friends and buy it in the 32 oz. bottle so we can give out samples. Everyone has had positive results and swear by it.

I first got Sombra through a Chiropractor. It really helped a problem shoulder area I had. However, his price was a little high for me and then I quit going to him also. So I researched it through Amazon and found the identical package at a much reduced priced. I am presently going to another Chiro who has given me samples of the product he sells. Sombra is the very best I have ever used. It gives the cooling/warmth and soothing that you want when in pain but without the "menthol" smell that we don't care for. My husband doesn't even mind putting this on for me where I can't reach. It is a great product!!

The older I get the more I love having Sombra available.

Years ago Sombra was just handy to find relief for occasional sprains and strains.
Then I got whiplash (as in car accident), the Sombra was a real quick solution to being able to move comfortably.
Now it is REALLY essential for being able to move and function without pain from just hanging around this planet for so many years.

NOTE: There is a very distinct difference between the Cool Therapy and the Warm Therapy. I find the Warm Therapy works best for my aches. Maybe the Cool Therapy is for people to use in the Summer heat. I prefer the Sombra Warm therapy year round, no question.

I sometimes put it on right before bedtime, when I having really challenging knee, neck, and back pain. I wake up with everything working smoothly again.
I also use it sometimes during the day when I'm at home fooling around or even sometimes before I go to the studio.

The 8-Ounce size lasts for a really long time, even with sharing film canisters of it with family members who are still in denial that they need to order their own supply to have on hand...lol. Sombra Warm Therapy Natural Pain Relieving Gel, 8-Ounce.

I've tried the roll-on version and it is handy but I don't feel that it works nearly as well as rubbing the gel on by hand and massaging the offending areas a bit in the process. When my roll-on Sombra is empty Sombra Cool Therapy Natural Relieving Gel Roll On, 3-Ounce I'm going to try refilling it with my Warm Therapy to use as a back-up when I need just a quick dab.

This product arrived in a timely manner. My massage therapists recommended it and I felt some pain relief and decided to use it at home. What I hadn't noticed was that it feels warm at first but then turns cool. This for me was a bonus at bedtime. I got some pain relief and a cold sensation that kept the hot flashes away. Now I know this is not listed as a part of its use, but it works for me. I have been sleeping better. If I wake and am hot I reapply and usually are off in dreamland fairly soon. If you have pain and sweat issues give it a try. Hope you have the same results.

I feel it as not really warming, more of a minty-cooling action. Can be too strong on sensitive areas (like behind the knee) or not strong enough on other areas (like feet)
Does not do miracles for me (nor did I expect miracles). I have chronic low grade pain/spasms in my lower back - it makes it a little easier, but does not get rid of it like for some people that posted reviews.
To make it possible to sleep - easing the pain and spams would have been a benefit if not added cooling/tingling effect that distracts while trying to fall asleep.
I like using it during the day.
I originally got this gel to warm my feet in the winter - nope. As I said - it rather cools than warms.
However, with summer upon us and me being sensitive to heat I use it as a COOLING gel on my back and legs.

IT FEELS GOOD BUT... - Cathio on Mar 31, 2011

I am having a difficult time with this review. I like this. It smells nice. The texture is light and fluffy. It is easy to rub on. Feels good. It has capsazin in in and menthol from what I could see for active ingredients but a small amount and not enough to have to use gloves to put it on. I used almost all of mine within a week. I thought 8 oz would last longer. It has that nice menthol feeling when you put it on but for me it did not last long nor did it ease my pain once the menthol feeling was gone which for me was pretty fast. I am use to using 10% capsazin and this one is about 3%. I think the menthol is about the same at 3% which is a low dose. That is a low amount but is what you are feeling when you use this. It seems just enough for mild pain to me. It does not have emu oil in it either which has been proven to work as an anti inflammatory. So, for those of us with chronic severe pain it is just not enough to kick the pain. I am thinking of buying it again, as it is reasonably priced, and add the the 2 things that really help my pain; Cobraxin and emu oil and then squirting in some of 10% capsazin and 10% menthol. Now that would pack a punch on pain and feel and smell good going on! But, I would have to use gloves!

I believe this should work for slightly strained muscles and low level pain. It does have a relaxing feeling to it too so I can see how it would feel good when used as a massage ointment. I just cannot see how it could work on really moderate to severe pain other than a quick topical 'feel good' that is over in 30 minutes or less.

I was introduced to this produce by my chiropractor and truly enjoy the soothing warmth that i get from the gel. Highly recommend it. But you might want to try it first by yourself as the odor is strong but not offensive. Such a minor thing to put up with. A small amount of the gel goes a long way.

A friend had some Sombra while we were camping in Central Oregon. I had done something to left hamstring and it was really hurting, so I rubbed Sombra on my leg in the morning and evening. It worked well enough that when I got home I ordered some of my own. No question when this one is gone I'll order some more. It's not a cure all but it really does feel good on sore muscles and joints.

As someone getting into running - and back into the gym - I've had my share of aches and pains recently. Specifically, my ankles and kness - from running - and my lower back - from weightlifting. Using Sombra on all three areas at bedtime, I go to sleep with a cool tinger and wake up feeling better than when I went to sleep.

This product is like Vicks VapoRub without the overpowering smell of menthol. A little goes a long way and I will use this for all my aches from now on.
