The instructions say take 1 at bedtime. These aren't supposed to make me sleepy - they're supposed to keep me asleep. And they work. I've been sleeping a bit longer, deeper. Don't feel groggy in the morning at all.
Nice product!

This is my personal favorite Melatonin. It seems to work for me better than any other melatonin product that I've tried. Must be the L-Theanine that it has. I let it melt in my mouth for faster results. You have to be really ready to go asleep, say like in 30 minutes or less. It doesn't leave you groggy in the mourning if you take it this way. Just a quicker more restful sleep. It's available at Sam's Club, also. It , also helps to take with 100mg of 5-HTP.

Didn't for us though but might for someone else-
Day1: Took one pill, swallowed whole. This was by far the worst nights sleep I had in awhile. I don't think I slept for more than 30 minutes at a time and it took me 3 hours to fall asleep the first time.
Day2: Same as Day1. I thought maybe Day1 was just a fluke and something else was keeping me awake. While not as bad as Day1 there was no improvement from my nights of taking nothing, in fact I think I woke up earlier in the night than I usually do.
Day3: Sucked it like candy until it dissolved. I saw a few reviewers, including the top rated one, saying this was the way to do it, but once again it did nothing for me. Also, it took forever dissolve, probably around 15-20 minutes. Had no noticeable taste.
Day4: Chewed it into dust then swallowed it with some water. I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but once again, nothing.
Day5: Same as Day4 but took two tablets. Same results.
Don't know what else to say, I had high hopes for this product, but it didn't help me at all. Time to try something else.
quality or duration of sleep anticapated, however, I would choose it before Ambien.
It's the combination of these three things that does the trick, trust me!
If I was to take something on a desert island, THIS would be one of them!
Oh and btw: Sam's has a 300-count bottle for around 5-6 bucks!:)
I've tried any number of things to help with the transition from being awake to being asleep. Lunesta works pretty well for me, but I don't like to take it all the time. It leaves me tired, and sometimes feeling a bit sad in the morning. It can also get pretty expensive.
I've tried many melatonin products over the years with mixed, but generally unsatisfactory, results. Sometimes it feels like they (might) help (a little) with quality of sleep, but mostly I'm left wondering, and eventually stop bothering to take them.
I recently decided to give melatonin a try again, and bought this stuff (Schiff Melatonin Plus) at my local Costco (where it cost 50% more than the current amazon price, grrr!).
I took one tablet that evening, sucking it like a hard candy until it disolved. It has no taste, so it's a bit like sucking a chalk tablet, which doesn't bother me, personally.
As I was sucking on it, I got curious to see what kind of reviews it might have. I found the amazon reviews via google, and started reading the same page you are now.
Not more than fifteen minutes later, I found myself yawning, realized I was having trouble focusing on the review I was reading, walked over to lay down in bed wondering if this could actually be happening (I'm NEVER anything but sharp and wide awake at that hour), and the next thing I knew, I was waking up the next morning, feeling like I'd had a fairly decent night's sleep.
Since then, I've taken it every night, right before bed (about 10 days now). I haven't had results as dramatic as the first night (though I keep hoping!), but I do feel a small, but noticeable difference in my level of relaxation, and it does seem like I'm falling asleep a bit faster.
If you decide to try it, disolve it in your mouth right at bedtime, or chew it.
Can't say if it will work for you or not, but for myself, I'm sold.
I tried these tablets and immediately noticed a change in my sleeping patterns. My sleep felt more satisfactory in the morning, as if I had slept for much longer than before. I felt no groggy after affects, and have no trouble falling asleep while taking it. I also have a significant increase in dreams I can recall.
I intend to continue taking the product as I am 100% satisfied with the results.
Also note, vivid and annoying dreams *can* occur as a result of taking this product, especially if you're forced to sleep in an unusual or uncomfortable place.
Sleep is deep but not so deep as to be groggy in the morning. Pleasant dreaming, though non-sensical. Also not so deep as to not wake up during the night when turning over, etc. All in all, I'm happy to have given it a try.
Found it, along with Ginko biloba, recommended for tinnitus. Supposed to increase blood circulation. The relief for that is minor so far, but I've only been taking it for a week. There have been a couple of very quiet periods, but other times, just as usual.
Tomorrow I will start a supplement of tryptophan to see if this adds anything.
Looking at the price, compared to Unisom this is MUCH cheaper. Saving money and getting better results.
Still cant sleep :( I wonder why, maybe its just me.
I don't give 5 starts since it doesn't really help me.
This is the perfect non-addictive sleeping pills of all times.
The first night, I took it and about a half hour later I felt really strange, it kind of freaked me out a little. The next thing I knew my alarm went off. That strange feeling turned out to be me getting drowsy and falling asleep. I apparently haven't had that happen to me enough to recognize it. I had no dreams, no racing thoughts, nothing. I wonder if thats how it is for people who can just go to sleep feel? All I know is that I take this every night, and I sleep! Even if you've tried plain melatonin and it hasn't worked for you in the past, give this one a try. It must be this particular mix that does the trick. Its cheap and effective. Yay for sleep!
The problem is, sometimes I will wake up with a headache the next morning, for some random reason. I am trying to find out why, if I am not getting enough sleep and cutting it off causes the headache, or taking them too much causes it, but I end up getting the headache all day and not even the strongest Tylenol can get rid of it.
I would still recommend this product, just be careful about any side effects.
I've also found, that when I'm stressed out from work or home issues, that this stuff works great! I've had serious issues sleeping when I was stressed, and now, I take Schiff Melatonin about 30 minutes prior to bedtime, and I'm sleeping happily.
I tell everyone I know who complains about problems sleeping about Schiff Melatonin. I've even started buying extra bottles to give away.
I don't take this every day, as I don't find it necessary to take every single day. But for the times when I do need it, it's a life saver.
I recommend this product. I've never tried melatonin before so I don't know if the theanine works - but it seems like it does, because my brain doesn't seem to race as much - which was part of the reason I woke up and stayed awake.
It works very quickly and I've never needed to let it dissolve in my mouth as other reivewers have indicated.
I'm very grateful that my doctor recommended this product.
Give it a try!
I am so happy with this product. It works better for me than any other melatonin product I've tried, and I appreciate the added Theanine to calm my mind. Even one will wash over me within about 40 minutes and I will start to feel sleepy. If I take two, it's almost guaranteed that I'll be out within half and hour and won't wake up again until my alarm goes off. Blessed, blessed sleep.
However, if I take the pill and don't get enough sleep that night, I will feel very awful the following morning. Thus only if I can guarantee myself 8 hours sleep, I will take the pill, otherwise, I'd rather stay up all night.
