Nit Free TERMINATOR Comb is the ultimate Tool to fight Head Lice and their eggs (nits). ANTI-SLIP BANDS allow for better gripping and control. ADVANCED LASER TECHNOLOGY welding make the comb sturdy and long-lasting. MICROGROOVED TEETH consist of microscop

At first, we tried the RID shampoo from the pharmacy which included a fine comb and gel. This did not work since nits hatch a day later and you cannot use the shampoo over and over. The shampoo has a pesticide in it that can be very dangerous for children.
After researching information on the Internet, the process we used that got rid of the lice within four days was the following: 1) wash hair and put conditioner in and leave it in, 2) comb hair with regular comb to get knots out, 3) section off hair and use Terminator Comb on each section (note: make sure you rinse Terminator Comb off after each stroke as to not spread lice, nymphs or nits), 4) completely rinse out hair conditioner and blow dry hair.
STEP 5) before bedtime, saturate hair with Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser all the way to the scalp. Put shower cap on child for the entire night. This step is important since the Cetaphil seems to keep lice and nymphs from crawling around and probably blocks the nits from hatching. However, this is not confirmed but makes sense if you read how nits hatch. Rinse the Cetaphil out in the morning and repeat combing hair with the Terminator Comb.
We did the above five steps for four days and noticed the number of nits declining considerably each day. By day four, we only saw a couple nits in the sink after rinsing the comb. NOTE: since nits hatch within 7-10 days, you will need to repeat the above process on day 7 just to double check. We checked on day 7 and found nothing. Since we're being super cautious, we checked day 10 as well and found nothing.
We bought one for each child (the combs come in differnt colors) and they last forever.
Other key pieces of info: newly hatched lice cannot lay new eggs until they have been hatched for 7 days. Therefore, you have 6 to 7 days to remove all the nits, once the live bugs are removed. The service also advocated using olive oil covered by a shower cap overnight to kill the live bugs. I am not sure how important this is if you do a good job of removing the live bugs and nits methodically with the comb and conditioner. Also, if your child has very thin hair, the tines of the comb may not be close enough together to get out the nits. In this case, the service advocated sprinkling baking powder on the hair after the conditioner is applied to thicken it up to the point where nits can be removed.
One last point: we tried one of the "non toxic" enzyme based treatments that purport to dissolve the nit glue. One example on Amazon is Lice Eliminating Natural Shampoo, All Natural, Non-Toxic, Nit Free with Foam Applicator Kit. This can be used instead of, or in addition to the conditioner. I think it did help reduce the force needed to get the nits out and also stunned the live bugs making it easier to get them out with the comb.
Based on the positive reviews on Amazon, I ordered this comb and paid through the nose for overnight delivery. I hoped and prayed that it would work as well as people said it would. Thank goodness, it did. My husband had just "finished" his tweezer treatment on our daughter's hair when the Terminator arrived. A quick run through her hair pulled out a good fifteen nits he had missed with the tweezers. So we took turns combing her with the Terminator and geeking out over the number of nits it was catching. Eventually it started coming out clean with every pass. At that moment I could have kissed the feet of whomever invented this thing. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
I found the electronic Robi-Comb and this Nit Free Terminator had the best reviews, so I got both. The Robi-Comb arrived first, and when we tried it, I was initially impressed. It did comb out some very tiny lice, but after a couple of days it stopped working. Then we received this comb, the Nit Free Terminator, and I was totally amazed to see what the Robi-Comb missed, much of which I believe was nits.
I can't say for certain this comb gets every single nit off every single hair strand, but considering the life stages of lice, I am not concerned. After an egg is attached to the hair strand, it takes about a week for it to hatch. Then there is about another week before the nymphs can lay eggs. If you discover you have head lice and use this comb every day until nothing else comes out, then use it two or three times a week to remove any bugs that might have hatched, you will be lice free.
The nits (eggs) will slide off the hair shaft easier if you first wet all the hair with distilled vinegar, cover the head with a plastic shower cap or wrap in saran wrap and leave it on for an hour. Remove the cap, comb through with a regular comb to remove tangles, then comb through with the Nit Free comb, wiping it off after every pass or swishing it in a bowl of water. The vinegar dissolves the glue that holds the nits on the hair, plus the vinegar helps the comb glide through the hair. After sufficient combing, wash the hair as usual. Even if you miss a nit and the thing hatches, using this comb religiously will eventually eliminate the lice problem.
And regarding treating your house or your carpet, please don't use poisonous sprays. Just wash your bedding in hot water, dry in a hot dryer and do some vacuuming, but don't stress about it. A live louse can only live about 2 days without a blood meal, and an egg can't hatch without the warmth from your head. As long as it isn't in contact with you, it won't live long. And as long as you're using the comb, if a live one does get in contact with you, you will be combing it out.
Three ladies in New York have opened several lice removal salons, and they use this exact same comb. You can find them on YouTube by searching for fairylicemothers (all one word).
From now on, I will never recommend chemicals or any other treatment besides this comb. I'm convinced it is ALL you need, and I'm informing everyone I know about the Nit Free Terminator.
Now I had done a lot to get rid of these critters but they are relenting. I had bagged up all my things, trying to sufficate them. I bought a vacumm and would constantly vacumm my house. I have draged all my laundry down to the coin-op countless times and bleached my clothes. I did everything. After a while I realized it was the expensive lice comb that was the problem. It would get most of the nits out but I could tell that it didnt do the job completely. Also if a nit got stuck between the prongs/bristles I would have to get a needle and scrape them out.
So I started looking online and I found this comb, I thought whats 10 more dollars and got it. It arrived 4 days later and I'm telling you it was 10 dollars well spent. When you comb your hair you can feel it working and then (this is my favorite part) THE NITS SIT ON TOP OF THE COMB!!! No more scraping them out with a needle! You can just wash it.
I recived the Terminator comb today around 10:30, spent 15 minutes combing out my hair until I honesly could not find a single nit! I was so excited that I walked down to the library and wrote this review. I have never written a review on Amazon for anything, in fact I created an Amazon account to buy this comb. I'm telling you, if you have lice and you need help getting them out, get this comb.
I ordered the comb because every night had developed into a new hobby of checking for lice and nits by hand. We are a family of five and this procedure was taking a ridiculous amount of hours every evening.
I also would like to mention that a top brand lice killer shampoo did nothing. Their combs were almost useless as well, which is why we started de-licing by hand. We also did all the bagging and washing of clothes and linen, etc.
We got the Terminator comb and I was hopeful but prepared for dissapointment as well. I thought we had done an excellent and thorough job grooming by hand but we were totally amazed and disgusted by what the Nit Free Terminator Lice comb dragged out of everyones hair! All kinds of nits, some sooo small. We even pulled a few adults out. (we used a small white bucket filled with water to catch what the comb brought out.) I could not believe it! Of course it was gross but we were thrilled how easy, quick and effective the comb was. Over a few days of grooming, our family has no bugs or nits. We will keep this up daily for awhile.
Oh yeah, my step-sons friend came over the other day. The boy had been treated for lice and was supposed to be lice free. We used the comb on him. I have never seen so many nits and some very fiesty adults as well.
This comb was an answer to a nightmare! Five stars is not enough.
After an hour of combing, I pulled about 5-10 lice out and thought that was the end of the live ones.....WRONG!!! That same night, I again found a couple live ones. Desperate, I surfed the web and we tried everything from Teatree oil, vinegar, olive oil, coconut shampoo/conditioner. While all of these treatments may have helped somewhat, we were still pulling nit after nit out of her hair. That exhausting problem again, had me surfing the web for suggestions. I came upon the NIT TERMINATOR that saved my (and my daughter)sanity!!! THIS COMB WORKS!! The long spiraled stainless steel teeth actually grab those stubborn nits off the hair shafts. With this product, you don't need ANY expensive/stinky/time consuming treatments! Comb a couple times/day until you don't see anymore nits...I continued to comb for 2wks. Be sure to wipe the comb after every swipe and wipe it on a cloth inspecting it for any lice/nits. I found it works best on wet or damp hair, but you can also do it dry. Soon you will be lice-free!!! THIS WORKS!!!
And after buying everything else, I decided to get this comb. It is the most helpful thing I got. I bought the electric one and its OK, but not as good as this one. This will get rid of nits that you can't even see with a magnifying glass.
So do your regular shampoo treatment the first day, after that use the flat iron on the hair while it is wet (moist heat is alwasy more effective) and use this comb every day. You will be lice free in no time. Don't use the hot iron the same day after you use the lice treatment shampoo, because I've heard some are flammable.
All you need is this comb and whatever hair conditioner you happen to have on hand.
It also gets your hair really, really clean. It will pull anything out of your hair that shouldn't be there. Since the whole family figured we'd better make sure, we all used it. My husband liked how it took all his dandruff straight out. My toddler has cradle cap and this comb really helped by removing all the flakes that came up during the treatment.
We all use it at least once a week, as we live in an area where lice are very common and I know my boys will be exposed to them again at school. Use this once a week with conditioner and you can be sure that lice won't establish themselves, again.
Get this comb, and use it each morning for 7 days (the time it takes an egg to hatch). I'm completely convinced it is the safest, easiest, and most effective way to rid your household of lice. Even if you decide to use the prescription-strength stuff, you should still buy this comb, or you'll have no way of knowing whether or not the treatment was effective. We also use the comb after our daughters go on a sleep-over for our peace of mind.
Friends of ours talked about their battle with lice as '3 months of hell'. For us, with this comb, it was 5 days of a minor inconvenience.
**UPDATE 08/22/09*** Almost a month later and still BUG FREE!***
To make it easier to get the comb through the hair, you must deal with untangled hair first. Brush out the hair if need be. Then apply generous amounts of hair conditioner, leave it in about 20 minutes to slow down the lice. Then, comb out the hair until it is very smooth. Some lice might come out at this point, so do this in the bathroom near the sink or tub. Then, use the comb to get all the tiny nymphs and eggs. You will have to be methodical, combing every tiny inch of your child's head and you will need to have hot water nearby to rinse the comb as you go. Do this 2 to 3 times a day for 2 to 3 days and you should be rid of the lice on your kid's head. (Of course, there's the other stuff that has to be done around the house to get rid of the lice as well...
Then I started looking here on Amazon and reading the reviews by actual buyers which I feel is the best thing about Amazon. Seems like almost everyone had good things to say about this comb. I also got the spray on "shampoo" stuff that is made by the same company. I think you can even get them together as a kit.
The day before this new comb and mouse arrived my wife spent an hour or two getting these bugs out of her hair. She has really long hair that hangs down to her waist so you can imagine how long it takes to comb through it all. The next day this comb arrived and she followed the instructions and got 50 more that either hatched or the cheap little plastic comb missed the day before. She is amazed how well it works. She also said it gets the eggs out too!! The next day she look for more bugs and eggs and found just one. That's right just one!!! I'm sure if she does this a few more times over the next couple of weeks they will all be gone. Goodbye bugs.
For $12 or so this thing is worth it's weight in gold.

Get your hair cut as short as you can deal with (tip the stylist an extra $5 and tell them to clean up really well afterwards).
Throw out any of the plastic combs. They miss too many nits, break when you need them, and just waste your energy.
Get the Terminator comb. I also recommend the NIX metal comb (more later) but the NIX metal comb does not do as complete a job as the Nit Free Terminator. To use the Terminator, it has a slightly bigger gap at the end of the comb teeth. Therefore you need to hold it at a small angle from the scalp, otherwise you can miss nits close to the scalp. The gap between teeth is very small, so you have to comb slowly. Due to the grooves, I have to hold it at just the right angle to see the results, but thats OK. I like the NIX comb to use before the Terminator and to carry with me, since I can use it many times a day, it also has the same gap all the way to the ends of the comb teeth, and the tips are rounded to get down close to the scalp. Use frequently. In the morning I used the NIX comb in four directions (or maybe 6) and then repeated with the Terminator, which will still pull off a NIT when I believed there couldn't possibly be one left. I do think the foam to help dissolve the glue helps, but the comb is what is necessary.
After experimenting with many conditioners and styling gels, I finally found Root of Nature Shea Butter and Green Tea Moisturizer (from the Ethnic Products aisle at Wa1mart). I found I could put lots in, at night and after washing my hair in the morning, but my hair still looked normal and felt good. I think that acted as a repellent and particularly helped stopped any new Nits from getting a good bond.
And when you get rid of them, only use a more expensive salon where parents won't bring their lousy kids, and the stylists clean properly after each client.
In our experience there is absolutely no need for dangerous and costly chemicals to fight lice. I am shocked that the doctors I have spoken to seem unaware of the existence of this product, which, in my view, should be the very first treatment they recommend to patients, certainly before attempting highly toxic chemicals.
and PROBLEM SOLVED! If you opt for the easier leaving method wash all clothes before you go and bring this comb for follow up treatments just to be safe. Worked like a charm!
