When I get sick, there are two products I take: Sambucol, and Extreme Immunity (by Nature, Body and Mind, available here on Amazon as well). Two amazing products.
Personally, I find that it works best if you take it when your cold symptoms (the standard sneezing, runny nose, etc.) are just starting, so having a bottle on hand is helpful. If you're looking for a way to shorten the duration of your cold, this product is worth looking into.
WHAT IS THIS "SAMBUCOL" STUFF?
This particular variety is reinforced with Vitamin C, Echinacea, Zinc and Bee Propolis which are excellent companions to the elderberry extract in the patented "SAMBUCOL" formula. Of course, parents like to go for overkill when their kids are sick, so this would be my top choice among the "Sambucol" varieties when one of my children is sick.
This patented "Sambucol" is the stuff that everybody tries to imitate. There is a reason for this - it has been proven to work against viruses like the flu. This "Nature's Way" product combines the excellent Nature's Way quality control with this proven, patented formula. The result is an excellent product that is not just for children and that has been documented to be effective against the flu. There is a story that goes with all this, but it is a long one. Suffice it to say that research keeps proving that this stuff really works against viruses and the flu where nothing else will!
NATURE'S WAY BRAND:
Yes, I do prefer the "Nature's Way" brand, though I have never purchased it from this vendor. This product uses the exclusive patent for "Sambucol", and "Nature's Way" has always demonstrated superb quality control, and efficacy in all the products of their's that I have used.
ALTERNATIVES TO SAMBUCOL:
Other products I have tried do combine elderberry extract with zinc, echinacea and Vitamin C, but they don't work nearly as well. The closest to this true Sambucol product comes from "Now", who makes a "Zinc Lozenge" that has all of these elements plus slippery elm, bee propolis, and 2.5 grams of sugar per lozenge. The 2.5 grams of sugar added per lozenge doesn't help one's immunity. Of course some people use herbal combinations with good effect, but Sambucol comes right out of the bottle and is ready to use.
THE BOTTOM LINE:
There really is something special involved in the manner that the elderberry is processed and extracted because no one has equalled the results against the flu virus the Sambucol has. If the flu has infected your household, this is definitely worth trying as there is no known way to simply get rid of the flu that works as well.

Did a tremendous amount of reading up on this before ordering it the first time as it is rather pricey stuff.
As the research seemed legitimate, I ordered a bottle to keep on hand before flu season.
Taken at the correct treatment dose it has stopped the family from getting sick several times while everyone else around us would stay sick for weeks.
I've recommended it to others who've had positive results as well.
Much of the "natural remedies in a bottle" pushed today are bunk just as they've always been, but this stuff does actually help and there is scientific validity as to why it works.
I keep 2 bottles on hand all the time.
Natural, safe to keep around and use with kids.
I use Sambucus or Sambucol instead of dangerous flu shots. Of course you will probably never see black elderberry mentioned by corporate-controlled mainstream media although people have been using it for hundreds or thousands of years.
having coughing spells and a lot of mucous I've been taking this and it helps! It does not cause tiredness or feel like I've taken anything other than helping with my symptoms, it tastes good as well.
The actual product looks like a purple cough syrup. The container also resembles a cough syrup bottle. This product tastes no worse than cough syrup, probably a little better.
The packaging recommends that for daily maintenance, two teaspoons be taken. For intensive use, two teaspoons should be taken four daily. If you are using this for daily maintenance and only taking 2 teaspoons a day, you will get 12 days out the 4 oz. bottle. The manufacturer does make an 8 oz bottle but that will still necessitate frequent purchases if you are following the product's recommendations.
I personally only use this when becoming ill and follow the instructions for intensive use. I have experienced great results using Sambucus and always have a bottle in my house. I highly recommend this product.
