Excellent Product - Mike on Sep 16, 2009

After reading the few reviews here I figured that I should write one. This is a great product that helps you to sleep. It is not a strong side effect causing sleep aid like most over the counter products. Melatonin is natural to the body and will not cause you to be drowsy the next day. My wife and I love this stuff and take anywhere from a quarter to a full dropper depending upon how much help we need. Another thing that is important to know when taking any natural supplements is that you should keep it in your mouth, preferably under tongue, for a few mintues to increase the effectiveness. Also try to take it when you have not eaten or drank anything for at least 15 minutes. It's a little extra work to take it right, but taking something that is natural to the body and does not have side effects is worth it.

I have chronic insomnia, & drugs like Ambien don't work at all on me. Nor do melatonin tablets. GNC used to make a liquid melatonin that worked, but they seem to have ceased manufacture. I tried several other brands, with mixed success. Finally, with this one, I found one that works.

The Melatonin seems to be quite effective in making me sleep better. My sleep doctor recommends to take only 0.5 mg at about midnight. This dose is about 0.5 ml, which is very hard to measure accurately with the measuring cup provided. I also feel that the sugar content is too high - even though it makes it taste good, particularly for a borderline diabetic.

I've spoken with many individuals who have tried melatonin in various strengths and have abandoned it as a useful supplement for sleep disorders. I am 82 years of age, by which age the bodily production of melatonin, the pineal gland, has virtually stopped functioning. Without melatonin, I do not feel sleepy. Natrol Melatonin is a liquid melatonin supplement, which as a liquid is easier for the body to absorb. Most importantly, the Natrol melatonin is disolved in ethyl alcohol, which means it is absorbed directly into the blood by way of the mucus membranes in the mouth. Consequently, it does not suffer the degradation that is common to all food in the process of digestion. Which is to say that more of it gets into the blood than with any other method of delivery and that it gets there faster (almost immediately). It works for me as no other melaton product has.

My son has PDD and going to bed is a challenge, he is always ready to go. He could stay up past midnight and get up at 5am with no problem but then he is moody and doesn't do well in school the rest of the day. I give him this around 730pm and by 8 he is ready for bed. He sleeps till 7am most days. He doesn't nap anymore so he needs a good night sleep.

Only bad side, the taste is pretty bad, even for a kid who has no problem taking meds. I tried hiding it in drinks and it's still noticable. The is another brand that is lemon flavored and he has no problem with that one.

This is great stuff, and even with shipping it still costs only about 2/3 what my local store charges. As a side note, if you're wondering about the difference between this 8oz bottle of 2.5mg Melatonin versus the 2oz bottles of 1mg Melatonin, it works out to exactly the same thing. The small bottles come with a dropper for dosing, and one dropper = 1 ml. The small bottles call for a four-dropper dosage, which = 1mg. Five droppers = one teaspoon. Doing the math, one discovers that 10 droppers = 2 tsp, and also 2.5mg, the dose listed on this big bottle. So if you have a small bottle with a dropper, you can dose exactly the same as usual by using that dropper.

We consulted my epileptic sons neurologist about taking this supplement with his seizure meds to help him sleep better throughout the night. It works better than expected. He sleeps throughput the night and has better behavior. But as always, consult your doctor first ;)

This item does help me fall asleep very quickly but there are two problems. #1. the taste is awful. #2. I always wake up in the middle of the night with difficulty falling back to sleep. I was using Melatonin tablets before and finished the bottle and because I couldnt find the tablets online, I decided to get this instead. I'm really dissatisfied that this happens because I've never had a problem with staying asleep.

When I ordered this product, it said it was in stock. It took 10 days to ship, instead of 3-5 like it said! Turns out they were back-ordered.
I repeatedly asked to cancel my order. I stated over and over through e-mails that I did not want, or need it anymore. My requests were ignored. Then, I finally get an e-mail telling me that my order was picked up, and they did not get my request to cancel before it was picked up. THIS IS FALSE. So now I am waiting on yet another e-mail from the compnay telling me how to return my product... which finally arrived yesterday. Almost 3 weeks after I ordered.

One of our two kids frequently has trouble falling asleep and we'd tried sleepy tea and other stuff but it never really worked. This stuff does the trick nine times out of ten. It has a strong alcohol taste but the kids don't mind since it helps them get to sleep. We keep it stocked at all times!

this product was purchased for alleviating the symptoms of adrenal disease in my ferret, it has seemed to be ineffective. I do not blame the product but the advanced case in the animal. It would have been nice to have seen more accurate dosage info on the product (i.e., how many doses per bottle) and would also have been nice to have had less flavor additives.

Caution This Contains Alcohol - Carol on Apr 16, 2011

I ordered this liquid Melatonin because it was suggested by someone else with a toddler who has difficulty winding down and going to bed at night. I was excited because she said it really did work....however when I received the product and looked at this label I saw it contains ALCOHOL...duh that would make any child sleep. Ever heard of people giving their kids Nyquil...cough syrup, etc to make them sleep. I for one do not want to give alcohol in any form to my little girl, so the bottle went into the drawer for me or my husband to use ourselves if we ever have trouble sleeping. Beware because this did not show up on the description online. I do see that lots of parents that are using this and praising it highly, have children with conditions such as autism...I am not judging them at all, it is hard enough dealing with a "normal" child who has trouble sleeping...I cannot imagine what they go through and God Bless anything that helps out even a little bit.
