Look No Further - Shirlz on Dec 9, 2007

This is a great eye mask, and I've owned many. The usual problem with eye masks is that they don't conform to the face, and thus let light in, particularly at the bottom. The flaps are flimsy and the velcro just doesn't do the trick in keeping the mask tight to your face.

This eye mask solves both of those. The connector at the back isn't velco, it's the real thing. It's not a cheap connector. And although I was worried because the lower part of the mask was heavier, I see they had to do this to block light. Unlike the expensive Sharper Image mask I bought, the heavier area is still very thin and doesn't cause a problem when I sleep on my side or face (yes, I often wake up face down, and not on the pavement.)

If your intention is to own a TOTALLY light blocking eye mask that won't be uncomfortable in different sleep position, well, this is it. And I'm darn anal about my eye masks.

The Only Sleep Mask That Works! - Silicon Valley Girl on Nov 12, 2007

I've tried a number of eye masks, some significantly more expensive than this, but this is the only one I use. The strap is thin and soft enough to stay comfortable even when I sleep on my side, and the mask itself is nice and soft, stays on fairly well, and does its job of blocking out light. Unbeatable, especially for the price.

I've Paid More Than 10 Times This For Something That Wasn't Even Half As Good! - JGC on Apr 7, 2008

I'm one of those people who cannot have any light or sound when I am sleeping. (BTW, these do not come with earplugs as the description states, at least mine didn't, although that's not what I purchased them for since I already have a good set.) I have used many eye masks over the years but this one is certainly the very best. What I like the most about it is that it's very comfortable and adjustable. I like a very, very, very tight eye mask and this allows me that while always fitting over my face well. I also like it because it's black and that also seems to naturally repel the light because I've used other eye makes in different colors (red and pink) and they tend to almost colorize the darkness. The reason I didn't give it a 5 is because some very little light sometimes manages to creep in. But other than that it really is perfect. And the price is excellent. I've paid more than 10 times this for something that wasn't even half as good!

Comfortable But Hard To Use - Susan Allen on Jul 7, 2008

This mask is nice and soft and thick and comfortable, but like other masks I have tried, light tends to leak through the bottom of the mask. The biggest problem is that the thick sturdy adjustable strap tends to dig into the skin at the top of my ears. If I try to raise the strap higher on the back of my head, it doesn't stay on during the night. So I've given up using it. My husband had the same problem with it.

Pleased, But Not Perfect For Me - Ed M. on Dec 23, 2007

I've recently discovered that sleep masks are making a big difference in my quality of sleep. I had been using a cheap airline mask and decided to seek something better. The reviews on this mask and the price were compelling and I received mine a few days ago.

For me, the good:
- Comfortable
- Good strap
- Price

The not so good:
- I have a pretty big head, so the strap is most of the way out.
- I toss and turn and this comes off easier than the airline mask, surprisingly.
- The mask has to be positioned perfectly to not leak a little light and after some toss/turn, it will move some.

The net is that I am pleased and would buy it again. I do plan to browse masks at local stores to see if I can find something that I would like even more.

Good Value, But A Little Small On My Face - R. Evans on Feb 12, 2011

I purchased three eye masks at the same time to see which worked best for me: The Bucky Shades Fur Sleep Mask, the Lghts Out Mask, and the Lewis and Clark mask. None of them kept out the right perfectly, as there as some light seepage in all three at the bottom of the mask. The Bucky was the largest and thickest of the three, the Lights Out the thinnest and lightest. The Bucky's prominent lower bolster lies under the eyes and across the nose keeping out most of the light and providing some space between the mask and the lower portion of your eye lids. When I wear this mask I still feel some contact between by eyelids and the the inside of the mask. The strap is wide and closes in the middle of the back of the head with velcro. I found that the strap put some pressure on my ears. Also the mask is made of a thick polyfleece type material and could be uncomfortable on a warm night. The fur may make the mask grab at the pillow and shift out of position. The Lights Out mask has a molded mask with a smooth satin finish. It is very light and on my face does not touch my eyelids. As all of the pressure is on the bridge of the nose and around the orbit of the eyes, the pressure in these places is slightly greater than on masks that rest on the eyes as well but off set by the light weight. This did not bother me. The strap has a velcro closure but very little adjustability. This is my favorite of the three masks although could slip around the head of an active sleeper. The Lewis and Clark fits too tight on my big head. It is the lowest cost and is adequate, particularly for travel where you might lose it. It was my least favorite of the three.

This Mask Might Work For Someone, But Not Me. - timothyp on Jun 5, 2008

This huge, thick, puffy mask might be good for you, as long as none of the following apply to you:

1. You sleep on your side
2. You have difficulty breathing through your nose when you sleep
3. You have eyebrows

First of all, the mask wraps onto the sides of your head, so it's uncomfortable to lay on your side. You may find yourself shifting around at first. But, you'll eventually get to sleep.

Next, the big puffy cushion at the bottom is effective at keeping light out once you position it correctly, but it will also put pressure on your nostrils. This will be very bothersome if you have difficulty breathing through your nose at night. Make sure to wear your Breathe Right strips.

Finally, when I woke up, my eyebrows hurt. The mask, huge as it is, covers your eyebrows. As a result, it rubs your eyebrow hairs all night, shifting them around. After several hours of this, the eyebrows ache. This was the biggest problem. "The mask sure keeps the light out, but is this aching sensation worth it?!!"

Also, because this thing is so large and puffy, it will push on your eyes. When you blink, your eyelashes and lids will be rubbing against the mask.

If someone would design a comfortable pair of blacked-out swim goggles, I'd rather wear those. This thing is like wearing a pillow on your face with a strap.

This Is A Great Sleep Mask - Eli on Jul 30, 2008

I am extremely sensitive to light when I sleep. Before I had this mask, I would lower the shades over the windows in the next room, close my bedroom door, lower the shades over my own windows, cover the windows again with a black out curtain, shut my eyes, AND put on a sleep mask, and I would lie awake thinking "it's as if i am staring INTO the sun."

No more. The Lewis N. Clark Comfort Eye Mask has several features that really help it get the job of blocking light done. Its most important virtue is the cushion of fabric below the eyes to the sides of the nose. Most sleep masks are held up by my nose such that there's a space on either side. The Lewis N Clark mask can block out 100% of the light there, at least as far as I can tell. Occasionally, I will roll over or something and the tiniest bit of light will come in (still much less than would come in under a regular mask) -- so the mask is not God, but I think we all knew that. Second, the mask wraps around pretty far on the sides of the face to make sure light is blocked from those angles. And finally, unlike other masks that eventually become too loose, the adjustable elastic band on this one lets you tighten the mask to keep every part of it pressed to your face. It can get too tight, but that is of course a sign that you should loosen it, and I find you'll still be in darkness. I assume the band on this mask will eventually weaken, but then you just tighten it! And when it finally gives out altogether, I'll just buy another one. It's great and it's cheap.

My only regret is that I have but two thumbs to put up for this mask.

Ok For The Money But Not Great - jmo "C" on May 27, 2008

I've never used an eye mask before, I bought this one because it had the best reviews within my budget. How ever in the reviews said that it didn't let any light in, but it does, and also in other review said that side sleepers would be able to use it with confort but I haven't been able to do it, I have to turn it side ways in order to be confortable. Also, maybe because it is al most summer but I get hot with the mark on, maybe in the winter I won't care that much. I'm still giving it a try because it's defenetly better than not using it (we got three small windows in our bedroom that let light through right on my face) Overal it's an OK mask for the price, just not as great as the other reviews said.

Good, But Not Great - E. Malahy on Jun 30, 2008

I've used this for about three weeks now, and while it's definitely an improvement over t-shirt on head, or towel on head, it still lets light into my eyes (I admittedly have a big head).

Also, it's kind of warm (very padded), so summertime without A/C is less fun.

WARNING: DYE NOT STABLE - LauHa on Oct 30, 2011

THIS PRODUCT LEFT BLUE-BLACK STAINS ON ALL OF MY SHEETS. IT TOOK ME A WHILE TO FIGURE OUT THE CULPRIT UNTIL I AWOKE TO A STAIN IN THE EXACT SHAPE OF THE EYE MASK. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS BEFORE YOU PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT.

Comfortable And Soft But Doesn't Block Out All Of The Light. - Vivian Darkbloom on Feb 11, 2010

If you have even a bit of a nose, you will still see a tiny sliver of light at the bottom of the mask. As long as that doesn't bother you, this is a great mask. It's very soft and not tight at all.

Quality Mask - Edward A. Hamilton " on Feb 22, 2008

This is a replacement for a Samsonite mask I purchased at a retail outlet. I found the L&C mask to be very comfortable and better at sealing out light. Could only give 4 stars because it did have a minor light leak at the bottom edge but it is minor and probably due to the shape of my face. Good mask, I recommend it.

Fits, It's Comfortable, Stays Put. - P. Falcioni "Ducatis on May 21, 2008

I purchased two of these recently, one for me, one for my husband. We both have very different facial features, and usually what works for me DOESN'T work for him.

I was pleasantly surprised when this mask worked for both of us. It's comfortable, and no light leaks through around the edges.

We're very happy, and will really appreciate them while we're tent camping in Alaska this summer (darned midnight sun!).

Light But Linty - N. Col. on Jan 19, 2011

!!!****EDIT:***!!! Before you buy from this listing, check out the one I've linked to. You get two masks for the price of one, and it's still prime-eligible! Definitely wish I had seen that before I purchased mine.:Lewis N. Clark Comfort Eye Mask 2 Pack

I chose this mask based on its great reviews and price. After a few nights of use I am indeed very pleased. I LOVE that the clasp is not velcro. Instead it is a well-made insert clasp, and is fully and easily adjustable. This means that as the masks is worn and the straps begin to wear, you'll still be able to tighten it to comfort. The mask itself is very soft and is made with a cushiony row of padding on the interior, right above where your nose would fit. This cushion does an excellent job of keep out light, and also raises the mask in such a position as to pad around your eyes rather than squishing them. I mean I see *nothing,* even when using it during the day. I'm not sure I would describe the fabric as "velour," as the description does, but it is very light, soft, and comfortable.

I deducted one star because of the incredible lint-attracting qualities of the fabric. I mean this thing picks up lint like no other. I'd rather have the exterior neutral-toned than change the fabric in any way, and the only colors I saw for this mask were both dark, so I'm not sure that is avoidable.

All in all, great comfort for great sleep. I would definitely repurchase.

Very Comfortable! - Lisa G. on Apr 20, 2008

I have the Tempur-Pedic eye mask and bought this one for my boyfriend since our bedrooom gets very bright. I used it one night and I found it to be much more comfortable than mine and not as obtrusive too. Plus, it is a lot cheaper. I would definitely recommend this eye mask over any other.

First Time For Everything! - Marca Twainia on Mar 23, 2008

I bought this since I was going to be traveling for 11 hours down to Buenos Aires. It's UBER comfortable, and blocks out light. It's lightweight too. It's soft and wonderful. I just wish I could have blocked out that annoying screaming kid next to me. Next time, I'll get ear plugs.

AWESOME! - M. R. Muller "Book L on Jan 7, 2008

I thought about purchasing the very expensive alternative to this mask for my husband and myself. So glad the budget is too tight for it, because this mask is fantastic at this price. Highly recommend this mask. Totally blocks out the light and is very comfortable to wear. We were way overdue for new masks and these are terrific. Go, buy, NOW.

Presses On My Eyeballs - Ken O'Amazon "Popcor on Mar 31, 2008

This highly hyped eye mask presses against my eyeballs like another, different manufacturer's mask, that I purchased at Walgreens. I find that very uncomfortable and potentially unhealthy. Is there no eyemask that has adequate spacing between the mask and the eyes?

Black Dye Leaves Stains On Bed Linens - Consumer "vandej01" on Jan 2, 2012

This was the best fitting, most comfortable eye mask I ever owned. But I should have checked other poor reviews that noted the stains that these leave behind. I noted this on pillow cases, sheets and a comforter cover. I just returned from a trip and was embarrassed to find that the hotel pillow cases were stained (after I had washed and dried this mask 3 times!). Because of possible damage that the dye might cause to eyes, I would rate this an unacceptable product that should be recalled.

Beware Of The Stains It Leaves On Sheets And Pillows - Euro foodie on Nov 28, 2011

it took us a few days to figure out why there were blue-ish stains appearing on sheets and pillows... the mask fits great and blocks out light, but that's small comfort for all the ruined linens..would give it zero stars if that was an option

Of Three Masks I Tried, This One Isn't The Best - K. Schaub "B-Vila" on Nov 14, 2011

I tried three sleep masks, two of which, Sweet Dreams and Lewis N Clark, were highly rated and popular. The third mask, Macks Dreamweaver Contoured Sleep Mask, I had a hard time finding on Amazon, but am glad I did. It was the one I ultimately kept and recommend. Below are my reviews of the three sleep masks and why I chose the Macks Dreamweaver.

Dream Essentials Sweet Dreams Contoured Sleep Mask
Pros:
* Does a good job of blocking light
* The contoured design doesn't put any pressure on the eyes, if the mask stays in place
* Comfortable material
Cons:
* The elastic strap kept riding down and onto my ears. It felt like it was cutting into my ears.
* The nose opening is too low, causing the mask, and thus the eye sockets, to ride up, defeating the purpose of the contoured eye socket.
* Not good for side sleepers as the mask does dislodge
* Cheap feeling pouch
I wanted to like this mask based on all the positive reviews, but ultimately the bad position of the elastic strap, and the fact that it kept riding up on my face, were what made me give up on it. I didn't have it long enough to verify the delamination that others had experienced.

Lewis N. Clark Comfort Eye Mask
Pros:
* Does a decent job of blocking light when it stays in place
* While not great for side sleepers, it was better than the other two
Cons:
* Like wearing a tight fleece jacket around the eyes.
* As the night progressed, the elastic strap slipped down and felt like it was cutting into my ears
* Nose opening is way too low, causing the mask to ride up and thus allowing light in from the bottom
I would have settled for this one had I not found the Macks Dreamweaver, but like the Sweet Dreams mask, the elastic strap cutting into my ears was the determining factor. I liked this one slightly better than the Sweet Dreams because it did seem to stay in place a bit better.

Macks Dreamweaver Contoured Sleep Mask (Pack of 2)
Pros:
* Blocks light the best of the three masks
* Nose opening is at the right height
* Contoured eye sockets are large enough to accommodate some movement
* Comfortable material
* Has two, slim, adjustable elastic straps instead of one large one
* Does not cut into the tops of the ears
* For about the same price as one of the other masks, you get two of these
Cons:
* If you are a side sleeper or move around, like the other masks, it will move, but it was still comfortable, even after moving.
* The material is basically identical to the Sweet Dreams mask, which makes me wonder if it will delaminate like people have found with the Sweet Dreams, but I haven't used it for more than a few weeks now. So far, no delamination. But if there is, a second one came with it.
While the Dreamweaver isn't perfect, given the fact that it won't stay in place with movement (Do any masks stay in place all night?!), it was the best of the three. The comfortable positioning of the eye sockets, nose opening and two straps make this the winner.

This Is Not A Cheapy! Glad I Found This. - Rehab Shopper "Rehab on Aug 26, 2011

I have used sleep masks for about thirty years. This is hands down the best one I have ever used. Comfortable and adjustable, it is made well and it feels solid on my face at night. So far it is maintaining the elasticity which is important since that is the first thing to go.

Beware, once you start wearing one of these, you will not be able to sleep without one. I know I can't. It's good to keep a spare. I'm getting a few more of these.

Great Mask; Great Price. - Harry F. Feld on Mar 1, 2011

This mask is nice, soft and thick. The really cool thing about it is it has a small tube of rolled soft, padding, same material as mask and same color, attached along the bottom length of the inside facing of the mask. You can't really see this feature in the picture displayed in ad but it plays a very important roll. This added feature conforms nicely to around your nose and cheek bones and blocks out any rogue light that sometimes seeps in under a standard mask in these areas. With the mask on and your eyes open, if you look down towards this area it is totally dark. Excellent mask, excellent value.

Best Eye Mask On The Market! - Shimmy6 on Sep 7, 2010

This little guy is in my opinion the best eye mask on the market, and trust me I have had my fair share (the temperpedic kind, the silk kind, the one filled with little balls of styrofoam-like material, all different kinds). I use this for travel, for when I nap during the day, for when I have trouble falling asleep (along with ear plugs) and when I get migraines. This is far and away the best mask I have had. It blocks out the light completely and comfortably. It's incredibly soft (I like to toss mine in the washing machine and then finish in the dryer, they only get more soft and fluffy). The best part and something that I think distinguishes it from others is that there is a plastic adjustable clasp that goes on the back of your head. This is important because many masks just use velco to help adjust. I cannot stand velcro adjusters since the velcro will get stuck in my hair, or on my pillow, or on the airplane seat, or in my purse, bleh. I like to order a bunch and give to house guests, friends who are about to go on a trip, or friends who suffer from migraines and I consistently hear from them how much they love this eye mask. Now if only they would bring back the red and grey colors.

Sweet Sleep Awaits - Rrose Selavy on Apr 7, 2008

4-1/2 stars. This is a great eye mask, very comfortable and dark. I drop half a star only because it slips around my head a bit in the middle of the night, and I have to readjust it. I suppose I could tighten it, but I don't want it pressing down on my eyes, too much. I like that it does not have a velcro fastener, which could get stuck in my hair. It's machine washable, for those of you worried about it collecting dust or sweat. I can't wait to bring it on my next plane ride.

Excellent Mask - Best I Have Had - jimmy p on Apr 6, 2008

This mask fits great and is comfortable. When properly positioned, it keeps all light out. It has helped me sleep.

The only challenge I have had with it is sleeping on my side. Because the perimiter of the mask, particularly on the bottom, has some bulk, it seems like it pushes into the eyeball when I am on my side.

Nonetheless, I am very happy with it. I would definitely buy it again.

This Eye Mask More Comfortable Than Most... - B. K. Mikan on Nov 20, 2007

Some years ago, I purchased a cotton eye mask that was the most comfortable eye mask I've ever used. The rest have been too bulky, don't fit right, etc. This Lewis N. Clark eye mask is better than most because it's adjustable without using velcro, it's thin and it fits. I recommend it.

Best On The Market!! - Bl Christopherson on Feb 6, 2010

I cant get enough of these! i buy them as gifts for family and friends and these are the most comfortable, well made, and you can actually blink with them on and not have your lashes interfiered with! 5 stars period!

Very Comfortable - M. Payor on Feb 6, 2010

I've had this brand of eye mask for the past 10 years and love them. I'm a frequent flyer and take a lot of red eye flights and can't survive without them. I've actually left them in the seat backs of airplanes by accident and always replaced them with the same mask by lewis n clark. They're the best and so comfy. I love the little padding that rests under your eyes and does such a superb job on keeping light out. I sleep like a baby with these guys on.

Best Eye Mask I Have Used - J. Seals on Jan 23, 2010

This mask very comfortable and blocks out 100% of light. It may taking a little adjusting at first but it worked great for me. So great in fact I am buying another one for traveling.

Great Solution To Sleeping In A Bright Room. - Joseph R. Kennedy on Jul 2, 2008

When venetian blinds wiped out all use of the traditional "Pull-down Roll-up Window Shade" in the USA I was left with no way to get a good night sleep during the day. Room darkening blinds still do not seem to seal out the light enough. This mask was comfortable and let me sleep anywhere in an emergency, like in a car when the roomate is partying and the sun is about to come up, in a bedroom with venetian blinds before a night shift at work, or while the roomate does homework with the light on all night. Feels good sleeping on all sides.

OMG!!!! - L. Johnson on Jun 4, 2008

I would give this eye mask 10 stars if I could. I was working the night shift for two years and needed something to help me sleep during the day. I did completely cover (blacked out) my bedroom windows BUT the light coming through the bedroom door (around the frame and door) was just enough to keep me tossing. I remember many of my patients who wore eye masks and thought how pretensious of them. Well let me tell you after ordering this eye mask and wearing it a few nights NOW I can not sleep without it. I thought it would take time to get use to but who ever styled this mask knew what they were doing. It is soft and very comfortable. The roll that goes over the bottom of the mask is the key to total blackness. No light gets through. Now my husband can watch TV before he goes to bed and I can put my mask on to shut out the light. Im planning on ordering more of these for back up and traveling. Anyone who works the night shift should have this mask.

Great! - SideKickSaba "SideKi on Nov 11, 2007

I received my pair quickly and cheaply. They are really soft with some kind of cushioning inside, and have a lip at the bottom so they block out all light. They're really convenient for when my roommate is up writing a paper, and I need sleep!

Works TOO Well? - darlu14 on Dec 23, 2011

Works too well? That's what my daughter says. She loses track of time with the total darkness it provides. I gave this eye mask to her as a gift to replace numerous other eye masks. She is one crankidoodle when she doesn't get a good 9-hour sleep...she needs total darkness and some quiet to be bearable in the morning. The other eye masks she's had have been those cutesy, teenie-bopper styles...you know, the ones w/ a drowsy cupcake on it that say "sweet dreams" (too flimsy). She's also had plain ol' terry cloth "spa" masks...not comfortable. This Lewis N. Clark Comfort Eye Mask really does its job...total darkness, in a soft, cozy fabric. Another reviewer said the plastic buckle bothers her/him....but my sometimes overly-sensitive daughter says she doesn't feel it. I tried it on, too...stays put and feels nice. So, her final say is: "Works too well, but deserves 5 stars".

Not A Comfortable Comfort Eye Mask! - Connecticut customer on Nov 25, 2011

This eye mask has a hard plastic buckle to fasten it instead of the velco that all of my other eye masks have had. It was very uncomfortable on my head. I don't think I have a particularly sensitive head, but I couldn't sleep with this hard plastic fastener pressing against my head! It was fine otherwise and didn't want to go to the bother of returning it. So I purchased some iron-on velcro and cut off the buckle and ironed on the velcro. Now it is fine. But it would be a much better mask if it were fastened with velcro in the first place. It would be helpful if the type of fasteners were included in the product description. That is something I will want to know before I purchase another eye mask from Amazon since it is sight unseen.

Comparing 4 Masks: Sweet Dreams,Dream Zone, Lewis N. Clark, & Lights Out, - Richard on Sep 30, 2011

I have been using four different sleep masks over the last year and I am writing this review as a comparison. The masks are the Dream Zone-Earth Therapeutics Sleep Mask; the Lewis N. Clark Comfort Eye Mask; the Lights Out Contoured Sleeping Mask Black Out Sleep Eye; and the Dream Essentials Sweet Dreams Contoured Sleep Mask with Earplugs and Carry Pouch.

All four of them are a vast improvement over sleeping without a mask, as I am quite light-sensitive. However, there are differences.

I tried the Sweet Dreams Mask first and initially liked it a lot. The carrying bag is flimsy and I have better ear plugs than the ones they give, but the mask worked well. It is molded to the nose and eyes so you open your eyes without having your lashes brush against the mask. This seemed cool at first but really is not that important compared to other qualities. I used the mask every day for about four months, and was satisfied, although, as in most masks a little light come through around the nose. But then I noticed that it was coming apart. The layers of material were separating and I could see the mask was not going to last much longer. So I bought the other three in order to decide which worked best for me.

The Lights Out Contoured Mask is also shaped around the nose and eyes. It did a very adequate job, and I probably would be more enthusiastic about it except that I felt the Dream Zone and Lewis N Clark masks were superior to it. Both of these have extra pillow material under the eyes, so they block out light better and are very comfortable. The Dream Zone mask is soft and pillowy throughout, with a satin exterior and soft cotton interior. It is incredibly comfortable, and I sink into sleep as it floats over my face. The Lewis N Clark also has those pillows under the eyes, and is a bit tighter fit with perhaps a tiny bit better light reduction. Both of these masks give me a great night's sleep, and I alternate in thinking I prefer one over the other. Sometimes I switch back and forth from night to night. Meanwhile, I have brought the Lights Out Contour Mask to my office for when I take naps there, and the Sweet Dreams Mask is around as a backup, not having totally fallen apart yet.

The Absolute Best Sleep Mask - John S. Rice "johnr4 on Sep 3, 2011

I travel a lot, have used at least a dozen variants of these things. The Lewis N. Clark Comfort Eye Mask is without a doubt the best and no other mask can rival it. I also use it every night at home and would highly, highly recommend it for comfort, durability, light blocking ability, and price. I'd give it 10 stars if I could!

Wow, Who Knew Light Was Such A Sleep Distraction? - H. Wright "howright" on Aug 25, 2011

I bought this mask because I was having trouble with relaxing my eyes at night. I would go to bed and could not relax my eyes enough to keep them closed. I bought this mask and it not only helps me with that issue but it makes me fall asleep more quickly because I don't have any light to keep me awake. I put the mask on and BOOM I am out.

It's great for sleeping in strange places, also for when my husband wants to stay up and I want to go to bed. I honestly never thought light was such a sleep distraction but it definitely is. I sleep soo much better now that I use this mask.

My only gripe is it doesn't stay on very well. I wake up every single night with it off and have to put it back on depending on what time it is. I am a side sleeper, but I don't toss and turn that much that it should come off.

Some Minor Problems With This Sleep Mask - Mike in NYC on Aug 18, 2011

Positives: mask is very soft and is made of a comfortably smooth cloth material.
Overall the mask feels like a soft, conforming pillow for your eyes. Quite soothing.

Cons: Light at the bottom gets in, although it's not too much. Static electricity will mess your hair up when putting the mask on.
It is a bit warm to wear in summer.

Lastly, of 3 masks I've tried, this is probably the best.

Comfy, Cheap, BUT They Do Let Light From The Nose Area - A. Bello "seek knowl on Jul 19, 2011

Highly recommended for light-sensitive sleepers, but if you're really picky about any speck of light entering, these are NOT for you.

They have a comfortable strap that doesn't pinch the hairline or the back of your ears, and the plush material rest comfortably above the eyes.

Would recommend to everybody except to the most nit-picky light sleepers.

OK, But Could Be Improved - J. Negron "Joe N." on Jun 17, 2011

I was hoping for more from this sleep mask after reading the many positive reviews. On the plus side, it is very lightweight and soft, and seems reasonably well made given the cost. But, there are two significant drawbacks.

If you adjust the strap tightly enough so that the mask seals out all light, it presses a bit uncomfortably to the eyelids, and impedes REM sleep. Or, if you loosen the strap enough so it doesn't press on the eyelids, much light gets in (mostly from the bottom).

Also, it is rather bulky, so if you sleep on your side, it presses uncomfortably on your face.

There are also two, relatively minor, drawbacks (but these things are highly personal, so they may bother you more than I).

The strap has a hard plastic guide which, if you sleep on your back, presses against the back of the head. Also, the material is such that it doesn't completely block out light; that is, if you're using it in a very bright room you'll get a sort of very dark "grayish haze" rather than complete blackness.

Perfect Eye Mask - True Grinder on Apr 5, 2011

I just got this eye mask, and it is AWESOME. It's very comfortable and blocks out all the light. To test it, I put it on and then walked out onto my balcony, and pointed my face directly at the afternoon sun. I could feel the heat on my face, but saw NO light at all. I wish I'd have thought of this back when I was in my 20's and worked graveyard shifts.

With this eye mask and my Howard Leight ear plugs, I'm actually sleeping eight hours a night now. I would never have thought that possible.

Great Sleep For The Money - knowall on Feb 26, 2011

When i first got it i was scared the strap and small buckle might be a problem. i am pleased to say it is not.
it blocks about 90% of out side light out thats good enough for me . along with other sleep tips you
can greatly improve your sleep. like going to bed at the same time, stop drinking 2/hr before bed. go to the
bathroom right before bed, things to eat and drink 2/hr before bed are cherry juice , oat meal , eggs, almonds ,
chia seeds , these things will help produce deep sleep. eat light at night , and stop eating 2/hr before bed.
hope this will help . i would buy this again.

It Goes On... I Go Out! - moikeyp on Oct 26, 2010

I work 3rd shift so having something to block out that annoying yellow orb in the sky is essential. This eye mask is very comfortable and stays on while sleeping. The best part is that it blocks out ALL LIGHT. I have to be sure to set an alarm clock otherwise as long as this thing is on my brain tells me to keep sleeping.

Lights Out!! - Mama K on Sep 12, 2010

I bought this for my daughter who was going away to college. She has always found it difficult to fall asleep, so I packed her up with ear plugs and this eye mask. She loves her eye mask! It blocks out all the light, and is very comfortable. It's good to know I bought the right thing (she'll actually use it), and that she can catch up on her sleep anytime she needs it!

If your ability to fall asleep is disturbed by lights and movement, or you have trouble turning off your brain, then try this mask! It will definitely help you to relax!

Comfortable, Inexpensive, And It Works. - R. Bates on Jul 11, 2010

This sleep mask is quite comfortable. It's easy to adjust and blocks out the light well. You can get a small amount of light leakage around the nose, but it is possible to stop almost all of it. The only way to make a mask to fit perfectly is to get one made custom to your face. You're not going to get that for 10 bucks! This is a good product, it's inexpensive and does what it's supposed to do.

Not For Side Sleepers Or For Anyone Who Wants To Be Uncomfortable - an_honest_tradesman on Jul 6, 2010

I really dislike this sleep mask. While it's comfortable and blocks out light well enough, and good for sleeping with on your back, it's really too bulky when you're sleeping on your side. I'm a side sleeper. The strap is so tight even with the most slack. One is always conscious of the connector latch on the back, and the latch is placed on the side so that it hurts your head after awhile. Worst design.

Well Here's The Thing... - S. Shah on Sep 18, 2008

This eye mask is constructed from quality material and fits well. As a matter of fact, it fits too well. I noticed quite a bit of pressure over my eyes, making it hard to wear for a long period of time. Also I sleep on my side which makes the mask scrunch up. Most mornings, I woke up without the mask on. Nevertheless, its a good mask for flights, long car rides, or the occasional night if I'm sleeping in.

Good Mask For Start Of The Night - Alissa Richardson on Jul 25, 2008

I needed a sleep mask because my husband likes to fall asleep to TV, while I don't like the flashing lights of the TV. It's perfect for me, because it blocks most of the light so that I am able to fall asleep. Whenever I wake up, it has usually come off of my head, but that doesn't matter to me because the TV is off by then. If you wanted it to stay on all night, probably not the best item for you. Also, it allows just a tiny amount of light it, but not enough to bother me. It is very comfortable on my face and soft against my skin. Overall, great sleep mask
