I grew up with a dad who swore by these through winter. He introduced it to my partner when they first met, who became totally hooked. I was so glad that it is now available on Amazon so that I don't need to ask for care packages to be sent to us.

Personally, I cannot stand the taste.

However, it is a great product and price if you happen to love it. I probably wouldn't get a bulk box if this is something you just want to try.

Being English I have used Fishermen's Friend for years. I swear by them when I have a cough or sore throat. Along with Beacham's Powders the cold goes away in a couple of days.

First of all, I would like to say that I don't intend to buy this for cough like others do. I have been using this product since I was 14 to suppress my asthma condition(THIS PRODUCT DOES NOT CURE ASTHMA). I have been purchasing mint product to suppress my asthma since I was 8 or 9 as I found out it does work for me. Then one day, at 7-eleven kiosk, I noticed this product, which is the most expensive cough drop that is available, without hesitation, i tried them and found out they are even better than Halls Menthol Extra Strong (haven't seen it in US, it is available in Malaysia though) which I have been using all along. Even Clorets Optimints and Halls Cool Minis can't even compare with this cough drops (almost the same price with smaller lozenge size).
Although I have never really use it for suppressing cough, I would highly recommend it to others who are hesitating whether they should get this or not, simply because I had given this to a lot of friend that suffer from cough and found out that this product really do works for them.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

If you're like me, you've probably got an extremely sensitive nose that's prone to allergies (especially to pollen). I know this stuff isn't technically for allergies, but it works a LOT better than any of the medicines. Because of the ingredients in these, I can just take this and once my nose starts to clear up (from it being all runny), I take my allergy medicine and I feel like I can run around in the spring time!! I sometimes don't even bother with the medicine. This stuff keeps my nose clear enough to where I don't sneeze so much and go through so many tissues! I haven't tried this with a soar throat, but I can imagine that it works just as well!! This stuff got me through work when I was really feeling the allergy attacks!!

This stuff's the real deal and I highly recommend giving this a try!!

I have never been able to find Fisherman's Friend Cough Drops in the big box stores, i.e., Walmart and Target, but have found them in the big grocery and pharmacy stores, i.e., Giant, CVS, Food Lion. When available, the item is pretty expensive if you buy one or two boxes. Since I always like to have these cough drops available, I buy them by the dozen (boxes), which makes them a little cheaper and there's no tax. Fisherman's Friend drops really help when I have one of those deep down coughs that none of the others can match. Yes, they are a bit strong but that's what makes them work so well. You get used to it and I promise you, you won't settle for anything else. I keep some in my night stand drawer, in my purse, and in my car because I never know when that awful cough is coming back. A few weeks ago, when I was in church, the lady beside me started coughing and couldn't stop; I just reached in my purse and offered her one of my Fisherman's Friend drops. Within seconds, she stopped coughing and wanted to know where to get them. I don't want to ever be without them. Highly recommended.

I use this more as an expectorant than for traditional cough relief. I will find myself clearing my throat constantly throughout the day. I have tried every drop on the market and Fisherman's Friend is the only one that relieves it and does so almost instantly!

As the many fellow reviewers from amazon had said this is one powerful Cough Suppressant. I do not use them (let me knock on wood here...) but Big Mama does and she gave them her heartfelt endorsement. As long as she is happy I guess I become happy too, by default. There are many of these type of products in the market but this one, Fisherman's Friend Original Extra Strong Cough Suppressant Lozenges, 40-Count Bags (Pack of 12), definitely stands out. Powerful Stuff that apparently delivers the type of relief that is much needed so 4 Stars for sure. Perhaps even more but since 5 Stars is perfection I kind of shy away from rating any product that high. It would have to be something so great I reserve it for the absolute best but that is me. 4.5 Stars for this one!

Was introduced to Fisherman's Friend while visiting friends of mine in Fleetwood, UK. As it turns out, that is where these are made. Found them to be better than anything else I've come across and came home with 5 each of the extra strong and the cherry. Just about to run out so I ordered more. Try them, you won't be sorry.

These cough suppressant lozenges are stopping my cough when nothing else would. After trying several brands (Halls, several generic,even Cepacol maximum numbing) these worked the best. The lozenges look like little pieces of gingerbread cookies, and I am able to use them as needed, or continuously in a social situation to keep from coughing. I will definitely be keeping a stockpile of these around the house for the next cold/flu that comes my way.

I've tried many, many types of cough drops and lozenges to help with the sore throats I get in the dry New England winters. From store brand to Halls I've tried many. I read about Fisherman's Friend and the accompanying raving about how its extra strength power really works. After giving them a shot, I am sold and will never touch another type of cough suppressant.

Forget any preconceptions you had about cough drops, Fisherman's Friend feels like three times the strength of Halls Mentho-Lyptus. This is unsurprising, of course, due to these little gems being made in England for... you guessed it... fishermen who experience soar throats and coughs out on the sea. This little lozenge kicks you in the back of your throat and liquefies mucus, clears nasal passages, and soothes your throat. After popping the very first one of these in my mouth I was instantly relieved. I even woke up in the middle of the night with my throat killing me; a couple minutes of sucking on a Fisherman's Friend lozenge I felt great and even woke up feeling better. This product, unlike all other name-brand cough drops, actually works.

Be forewarned, the taste and feel of these in your mouth is not for the weak. When they say "Extra Strong" they mean it.

Highly recommend this product; it lives up to its reputation.

These cough drops are not for those who like candy; Fisherman's Friend is medicine and tastes like it. You will probably never be asked to share. And they work! They make me feel better, no matter what. Since they contain real licorice, you should let your doctor know if you have high blood pressure and are using these cough drops.

I think I'm one of the rare people that think that these things actually taste good... it's kind of a minty licorice taste, on top of an overwhelming menthol taste. These things have 10 mg of menthol, which is only 3 mg more than your typical Halls, but the difference is in the time of delivery. A Fisherman's Friend only lasts a few minutes in your mouth, whereas you could be sucking on a Halls for 15 minutes or more... so you're getting a lot of menthol, very quickly, which will kill any cough in its tracks.

I have used this product since the late 1970s with very good luck. I have not hade a cold/sore throat for 3-4 years. I find that if I feel one coming on I take a couple before going to bed and in the morning it is gone. The taste is very strong menthol which I don't mind. Some of my family don't like it but it beats a sore throat for a few days. The major problem it finding it in stores. Walmart use to stock it but stopped a couple years back. I now buy it from AMAZON in carton quanity as the best way to go!!
