The manufacturer's customer support was very unhelpful. I could not find out if I could wash the mask with laundry detergent. I followed the tag instructions and washed it in lukewarm water only, but this did not entirely remove the scent.
If you are highly allergic, I would not recommend this mask.
On the plus side, the mask is very soft, with the silk lining against the face. It is trimmed in polyester, but I found this did not sit against my skin. I guess the 100% cotton is on the outside. The mask blocks out the light adequately except around the edges.
The elastic could be narrower and more adjustable to fit more comfortably around the ears.
All four of them are a vast improvement over sleeping without a mask, as I am quite light-sensitive. However, there are differences.
I tried the Sweet Dreams Mask first and initially liked it a lot. The carrying bag is flimsy and I have better ear plugs than the ones they give, but the mask worked well. It is molded to the nose and eyes so you open your eyes without having your lashes brush against the mask. This seemed cool at first but really is not that important compared to other qualities. I used the mask every day for about four months, and was satisfied, although, as in most masks a little light come through around the nose. But then I noticed that it was coming apart. The layers of material were separating and I could see the mask was not going to last much longer. So I bought the other three in order to decide which worked best for me.
The Lights Out Contoured Mask is also shaped around the nose and eyes. It did a very adequate job, and I probably would be more enthusiastic about it except that I felt the Dream Zone and Lewis N Clark masks were superior to it. Both of these have extra pillow material under the eyes, so they block out light better and are very comfortable. The Dream Zone mask is soft and pillowy throughout, with a satin exterior and soft cotton interior. It is incredibly comfortable, and I sink into sleep as it floats over my face. The Lewis N Clark also has those pillows under the eyes, and is a bit tighter fit with perhaps a tiny bit better light reduction. Both of these masks give me a great night's sleep, and I alternate in thinking I prefer one over the other. Sometimes I switch back and forth from night to night. Meanwhile, I have brought the Lights Out Contour Mask to my office for when I take naps there, and the Sweet Dreams Mask is around as a backup, not having totally fallen apart yet.
This mask is great. It has a nice silky soft finish, is plush and fits nicely. It does a great job of keeping the light out and I do not find the adjustable velcro strap bothersome at all. the mask does rest on you eyelids but I do not find this troublesome at all (in fact I prefer a mask that does this.)
Great choice with virtually no drawbacks. Would buy again!
Another reviewer mentioned that these have a bad odor when they're new. Yes, they stink! I opened mine and let it air out for two days and it still smelled as bad. I rinsed it with cold water and let it air dry on my window sill. That helped reduce the smell but it's not gone.
The strap is quite long. There is one set of velcro, which is also long so I can adjust it where it's comfortable but not as snug as I want. What's with eye mask manufacturers refusing to use two velcro strips? What's with the eye masks made for giants?
This mask has slid down a little on a couple different nights so I would like it to fit more securely. It's sort of weird to wake up half blind.
It's not a bad product but I still haven't found a great eye mask.
I was surprised that the mask I purchased off Amazon was scented. It is a relaxing smell, however I am hesitant to use for fear it will hurt my sinuses. I may try hand washing the mask to see if it erases the scent. I am hopeful that it will, since I love the mask I am replacing this one with. The only difference between the two being the new one's scent.

When I opened up the delivery box I was ecstatic and looked forward to a good night's sleep. The mask is comfortable and large enough to keep all light out, it also contained a calming aroma which I was uninformed about and it would, on occasion upset my sinuses, but if you don't put it back in the plastic sleeve which it comes in, the aroma will eventually dissipate. Now, I can't live without it! (aed)
... but since I got this sleep mask I've slept wonderfully!!!! I sleep the whole night! and the next morning I feel so rested and full of energy! :) I'm really happy with it. It's blue on the front, black on the back, it's padded and it's made out of silk which feels great on your eyes. It covers half my forehead and half my cheaks which feels so comfy on your face! It's complete darkness! :) delicious!!! It has an adjustable strap with velcro so you can fit it to your head size!

No light penetrates in. It is very comfortable to wear. I took it on a trip with me and it was perfect on the plane..just threw it into my carry on and off I went to sleep!

Polyester vs Silk is quite obvious, but what about the lotions and sprays and all of your other products?? Somehow I cannot believe that the fabric of the mask is the only LIE.
As a respected, very popular company I would urge you to fix this false advertising right away before you highly disappoint other loyal buyers and even possibly get yourselves into great trouble. In the mean time I will let everyone know about this and look elsewhere for a new silk mask from a trustworthy company with integrity. I really hope that this low quality polyester let down is the only lie for the sake of your consumers. And as far the poor clueless people sleeping in your polyester masks every night, their skin is probably breaking out because it cannot breathe. I really hope you are not okay with that. And as far as claiming all of this to be an innocent mistake, don't even try it.
