I've had the gamut of gas, bloating, irregular bowel habits & have been to a digestive specialist for several years with no help at all. He ordered a medication that made me sick as could be...so I stopped that. On top of IBS, I have recurring kidney stones & between the two problems, I had times of such pain I would be bent almost double. When I went places, I had to take a handful of the strong Mylanta Gas tablets just in case...used them often to feel some better.

Then 2 months ago, a friend told me of this product & how it had helped her. I got some & WOW...what a difference in my life now!! One tiny pill each morning before breakfast & I'm off to a productive day with NO discomfort!! I can hardly believe this medication can make this difference. I continue to watch what I eat which I think is an essential part of handling IBS. Most of us who have this problem have sensitive stomachs & should avoid trigger foods (onions in any form are usually one of the culprits, for instance). As an R.N. I know that food allergies can also be triggers so I would hope any IBS sufferers would avoid any foods they might suspect...it's not worth it! These caplets work so completely for me in that I can now eat without any discomfort. It's a whole new life for me now & believe me, I'm keeping a supply of this medication on hand, always!

I have suffered from IBS for about 30 years, with very little relief from any remedies tried or from doctor's prescriptions used. I became afraid to go out to restaurants with my co-workers or family and only felt really safe in my own home. Traveling meant seeking out the availability of restrooms wherever we stopped to eat or sightsee. I could not get into situations that kept me from being able to access a restroom in a hurry. It affected how my husband could make plans, also.

I heard about Digestive Advantage IBS and decided to send for a free sample. Since the sample did not have any ill effects, I decided to purchase the product and try it for awhile. I fully expected less than desirable results, because I had tried so many things in the past.

I cannot tell you in words what this product has meant for me. It sounds cliché, but I do have a whole new life. I am now unafraid to make luncheon dates and I can shop and travel without the constant dread of an emergency. I have lost the sense of fear in living a normal routine in public. What used to be uncounted trips to the restroom (many because of fear of "possible" problems) have ceased. I now can go out and relax and enjoy occasions. My husband is relieved, too.

I certainly can recommend this product without any reservations. I'm only sorry I didn't find it earlier.

I have constipation type IBS and this works for me. The first thing I noticed was that I wasn't as bloated. Not alot of relief, but just enough to keep on giving it a try. It took about 2 months to get the full effect.
Without it, I am really constipated, but with it things work alot better. I use the chewable tablets.

A few years back, I started getting these bouts of sudden diarrhea right after eating. At first I thought it was food poisoning, but when it kept happening, I realized it wasn't my favorite Chinese restaurant, it was me. In fact, it was so bad that I had to leave work early a few times. I was honest with my supervisor with what was happening so I was excused, but still very embarrassing and unpleasant. But If you're reading this, you very well may already suffer from IBS so you know what I'm talking about.

Concurrently, I was also having a problem with psoriasis and eczema on my hands. My fingers would crack and bleed, uncontrollably, and this too caused problems. People were afraid I had some contagious disease! And I was working a retail job, so I was interacting with people and merchandise all day, for which this caused many problems. I had seen a dermatologist for this, and at one point they had put me on Soriatane, which is a very expensive, potent medication. You also had to go in for blood tests regularly because of the damage it could do to your liver, etc. While it DID clear up my hands completely, it also caused my lips to be chapped constantly, so in a strange way it was a trade-off. Loss of insurance (and a lack of Chap-Stick!) made me go off the medication eventually. The problem returned immediately thereafter.

Back to the IBS. . .So one day I was shopping at Costco and suddenly had an IBS attack. As fate would have it, just as I was leaving the restroom thinking "I've got to do something about this!," I made eye contact with a box of these Digestive Advantage IBS tablets. (This is where the love at first sight music would start if this were a movie.)

Needless to say, after only a few days of taking these (I take 2 daily) I noticed that not only did I not suffer from IBS, but the psoriasis and exema on my hands cleared up also!! Since that part had always been somewhat cyclical, I just figured it was a coincidence. But my hands stayed clear. Could it be these tablets helping with that also? After about a month I decided to stop taking them and sure enough, not only did the IBS issues return, but so did my psoriasis. Back on these, and it cleared up again! So for me, this really has been a miracle product. My dermatologist was baffled as to how this could work better than a $200 per month prescription drug, but nevertheless happy for me.

Since I've signed up for the Automatic Shipments from Amazon, which with the free shipping, are cheaper to have them delivered than driving to my local big warehouse store where I was buying these before.

I've sung the praises of these to family and friends to the point that they probably wish I'd shut up about it already, but I'd give these 10 stars if I could, it really has worked that well for me!

UPDATE AUGUST 2008: I've been taking this daily now for a couple of years, and I still have absolutely no cracking or bleeding of my hands. It has kept them clear consistently the entire time and I am still absolutely thrilled with this stuff. THANK YOU GANEDEN!!

I took prescription Zelnorm for a little over a year before trying this product. I've been using this product for 4 months now and have found it to be nearly as effective as Zelnorm for managing IBS (w/constipation) - and it's less expensive too. I've tried both the capsules and the chewable tablets and have found them to work about the same. Personally I prefer the capsules because I don't like the taste of the chewable tablets. I plan to continue using this product.

I have suffered with IBS for years now, and nothing has helped significantly, though I have tried numerous treatments, both mainstream and otherswise.

I decided to give this product a try after coming across it on the Internet. It was cheap and safe, so I figured I didn't have much to lose.

I am shocked at the difference I have seen after using it for about 5 weeks, and the improvement was almost immediate.

I have had short periods of improvement in the past, so I am hoping that this will continue. But I have been probably 80% better, consistantly, with not a single really bad day in over a month. Given that a "bad day" was fairly common (at least a couple of days a week), this is very encouraging. Even on good days in the past, I still would have discomfort at various times during the day, but since I've been on Digestive Advantage, I have been able to go through most days without paying any attention to my stomach. I havn't felt this way in years!

So, I encourage anyone with IBS to give this a try.

I've suffered from IBS (diarrhea form)from the age of 16 - now at the age of 40, the majority of my life has been spent either running to or spotting out the nearest toilet. I've had countless of times I've had to miss out or cancel on picnics, hikes, walking on the beach etc due to fear of not being able to make it to the nearest toilet. I've avoided every food in the book (anything fried, no fast food, certain fruits, cereals, etc) that I've supposed to and nothing worked, except for not eating at all (I'd literally fast for at least two days prior to any airplane trip anywhere and this was how I lost 20 pounds while on a trip to Europe) but what kind of life is this to live?

I tried this stuff immediately when I heard about it - didn't even have any hope of it working - I would literally go through at least 8 - 10 Kaopectate pills a day, which never even helped at all. I had special mixes made up for me at pharmacies, sludge that looked like cement - that never helped. Even when I lived on oatmeal, bananas, everything that they tell you to eat if you have a "tender tummy" - mine was a raging volcano since my teens. I would quiet any doctor that had any advice that I "surely hadn't tried yet" by asking them if and how many times they'd soiled themselves out in public. Gee - now what's your answer? Can't hear you!

To the point - this stuff truly works. Have been using two pills a day for two months now and only had maybe two episodes of diarrhea - with the stomach flu. Boy, was I worried when Zelnorm was taken off the market - what was I going to do?!? I found others raving about Digestive Advantage IBS on about three separate IBS websites and decided to give it a try. HOLY COW!! It works!! Even BETTER than the Zelnorm did - if you can imagine that! I felt better within an hour. I am SO GLAD I found it.

I looked up each ingredient in it - Lactobacillus yeast; Lysine, An essential amino acid; Malic acid used as a flavoring to make it tart; Plasdone,used as suspending and dispersing agent; and the list goes on, but each ingredient seems to make sense - it has a purpose. I wish I had found it years ago.

I've had IBS since I was a child. Ever since elementary school, my morning bout of diarrhea was the "norm." I had reached the point where for years -- YEARS -- the only type of bowel movement I had was diarrhea. The extremely painful gas and bloating were what I lived with every day. I knew I couldn't eat anything in the morning, or there would be the immense pressure, followed by the diarrhea. I had become what doctors refer to as a "Bowel Cripple" -- sometimes even if I didn't eat anything in the morning, I still didn't make the commute to work without pulling over to find a restroom.

About 6 months ago now I discovered this product. I now have totally normal bowel movements, and I have this product to thank for that. I was sick for years, and now it's over, thanks to Digestive Advantage for IBS.

I will say, however, that I've also tried the Gas Therapy (which I was still having), and found 'that' product to be ineffective. Kind of odd to me that this product could be such a miracle, and the other such a dud. What 'does' work to cut smelly gas? Lemon juice. Just discovered that a few weeks ago. Have a few swigs before you eat, and it creates a nice acid environment in the tummy.

If you're still gassy/flatulent, try a product called Devrom. It won't take the wind out of your sails, but takes the funk out of your wind. It's an internal deoderant.

I'd also like to encourage anyone with IBS to check out the possibility that you may have systemic CANDIDIASIS. That's yeast. It'll cause IBS and a host of other very serious problems. You can get books on it right here on Amazon.

So, based on my own truly horrid case of diarrhea-predominant IBS, those are my recommendations: 1. Digestive Advantage for IBS; 2. Lemon Juice before you eat (I just add some to a sugar-free lemonade -- makes it extra tart). 3. Devrom to cut the sulfur/methane content of your gas.

Some of the other reviewers were disappointed when a miracle hadn't occurred after 5 days, & gave up on it. Hey, I have fought IBS for 20 years; I'm going to give it time to work before I write it off. And to my complete surprise, it did. No more pain, cramping, & paranoid need to know where the closest bathroom will be (if I did dare to go somewhere without taking a dose of Immodium ahead of time.) It is not a cure; it is a CONTROL. As the packaging warns you, if you don't stay with it, the IBS will return within days. Taking the pill every day is a small price to pay for freedom from being "caught" somewhere. I can make plans with complete peace of mind. But you do have to allow the probiotics time to kick in. It took almost 3 weeks for me to notice a change, but after a month, it worked consistently well for me. I signed up for the auto delivery option; I like that IBS no longer rules my life.

I find that Digestive Advantage has worked better for me, than Equalactin, a product that my gastroenterologist told me to use. I know that this product will do the trick. Plus, it tastes better, and I only have to take 1-2 pills a day, unlike equalactin which one can take up to 8 tablets in a day. Sadly, nothing is a cure-all for IBS.

The probiotic (Bacillus coagulans) used in these pills have been very effective in treating the IBS (combination) that I experience. The manufacturer of these pills: Ganeden has a good variety of "Digestive Advantage" products and they all use specifically Bacillus coagulans. Some of their other products include other ingredients that may also help with the symptoms that they market their product for (e.g., fiber in the gas digestive advantage). The IBS formula is in capsule shape and can be broken so you can sprinkle the product on your food, as opposed to the other pills in the "Digestive Advantage" line which must be swallowed or chewed. I have tried other probiotics, and none have been as effective as the Bacillus coagulans in "Digestive Advantage".

I used to have horrible symptoms for almost a year. I thought something was terribly wrong with me. I went to several doctors, all trying various things: food diary, allergy tests, more tests...they all thought I had celiacs disease or some type of food allergy, one doctor said I had IBS. I was tired of doctors not knowing what they were doing and talking about, so I decided to try this when I spotted it while grocery shopping. It took about 1 month to work well and I seriously cannot function without it--which bothers me. I am not the type that likes to take pills all the time. I tried getting off the pills for a while and all my symptoms came back. I then had to start using the product again for a couple weeks before relief was found. I went through a lot of different "home treatments" and nothing seemed to really work for my IBS-D. I began taking this about 10 months ago, and although I was doing better, I still had episodes about three-four times a month. I went to see a doctor about six months ago who recommended adding Metamucil (or some type of fiber) to the mix. I really didn't think it would help -- after all, I wasn't exactly having trouble going, the frequency and pain associated with it were the problem. Anyway, I bought the Metamucil capsules (not the chewable ones, the pills) and started taking two of those with the Digestive Advantage every day. Somehow the combination of the two has worked wonders for me. I went several months without having any kind of diarrhea, and in the six months I've been using this combo of medications, I have probably only had diarrhea two or three times. Basically, it's happened so little I don't even really remember when I have it. For lack of a better way to describe this, I think it has "cured" my IBS-D. If this has worked for me, maybe it will work for others.

I read about this in a physician's newspaper column and decided to try it. I haven't been officially diagnosed with IBS, but the symptoms were all there so I figured that if this worked, that must be my problem!

It has made such a wonderful difference I'd highly recommended it.
Just one important tip if you have IBS: Start every meal or snack with 1 or 2 bites of a soluble fiber food (carrots, brown rice, potato, etc). It lessens the shock to your digestive "brain" and makes a big difference.

Now the only time I have my old digestive troubles is when I'm under stress, so I exercise and do breathing exercises to try to relax...

If you click on the product (32 or 96 capsule box) then click the image for Intensive Bowel Support, it actually takes you to the old packaging picture for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Appears they are trying to target a large demographic with 'bowel support.' I noticed the review prior mentioned getting a different name producted, hence the Amazon statement that this is under review.

If you have a box of the Irritable Bowel Syndrome around like I do, and read the ingredients on the back, compared to the listed ingredients on the 'Intensive Bowel Support' product, they are identical.

Been using this for about 6 months now, went from 3-5 episodes of IBS-D per week to 1 ore less. Took me about 3 weeks for the gas / bloating to full alleviate after starting, but boy has my life changed. I no longer shy away from going to the movies or out after dinner fearing my IBS-D will plague me. It's completely changed my social life.

I am pretty sure I suffered from some form of IBS most of my life, even as a child, but until about two years ago, it wasn't severe enough to really limit me.

When I moved overseas to Europe, my IBS became a nightmare. I was sick constantly, having attacks several times a week (IBS-D). I remember thinking that I wish I could go just one week without feeling awful, and looking back, I never had a full week of being normal.

I am an active person- a high level athlete, a person who likes to travel a lot, and a person who loves food. Being limited in all of these things made me SO depressed. Finally, in the summer of 2008, after breaking down crying when I had to leave a nice restaurant with my parents because I was feeling sick, I finally decided I had to do something, or I was going to lose my mind.

I read the reviews on Amazon.com after hearing about this product on another website. I thought I would give it a try. It was a MIRACLE!!! Within just a week I noticed a difference, and after a few weeks I felt completely normal. It was like my life had been restored. I could go places without fear, eat things I loved (I had been living on rice and water for a year trying to keep things under control). It was like a cloud lifted over my life.

Since then, and it has almost been a year, I have not had these problems. I even travelled in Mexico without any bowel problems. I was beginning to show symptoms of IBS around April 2006. It would often come and go. Around September 2006 I had an acupunture session which cleared it until about two months ago when I experience severe stress and the symptoms never went away. I couldn't eat anything without exhibiting symptoms. I finally went to the doctor again and he prescribed medications which only aggravated the symptoms. While researching online some alternative medications, I came across Digestive Advantage and raced to the nearest Pharmacy. I began taking it immediately. The first symptom that disappeared was the burning feeling in my upper and lower intestines. The gas became a little more severe during the first week. The urgency began to subside during the second week. If I ate organic and soy foods I rarely had urgency, however I still could not eat anything in certain restaurants until the second week and even now certain restaurants and foods still aggravate my stomach. I am able to digest small amounts of milk products like cheese, but have not been brave enough to try milk yet. I still have about a week of the pills to take but the results are truly amazing.
I may need to purchase another months supply since my stomach was so aggravated but at only $10 for a months supply, being able to eat food again and feel such relief it is worth it. I recommend anyone suffering to purchase it and see the difference hopefully you will have the same results if not better. I actually had a Starbucks latte today(with soymilk) with only a little aggravation because of the coffee not the soy

I am serverely lactose intolerant and was having problems with the lactaid pills that you take as you eat. I was never sure how many to take, if I took too many, or not enough. Consequently, they never seemed to work for me and I never felt at ease eating dairy. With much doubt, I decided to try the One a Day Digestive Advantage Lactose Intolerant Pills and they have been working great! During the first couple of weeks I had some stomach upset, pains, etc. but now after being on it for 2 months, I can safely say that I eat whatever I want! I'll even have a dish of ice cream w/ no affects after eating pizza! It does work. Give the pill some time (or maybe it's time for your stomach to heal) and you will see how great it is. It's changed my life and my daughter's and it's convenient not to carry the other pills around w/ us. Try it!!

I have experienced IBS for over 10 years now. I have been on prescription sedatives at night in the past to control the symptoms only to find stress brought the IBS back.
