Cute Humidifier That Does The Job - Mimi Martinez on Oct 19, 2011

The Crane Owl humidifier is cute and functional. It's easy to fill, with minimal drippage when transferring the tank back to the base. The mist comes out the top of the owl's head, so it's good for areas where you want the mist to travel up. This might not work out well if the humidifer needs to be placed up high - dresser height works for us. It's easy to operate with one dial. The first night I turned it all the way up for maximum humidity, which turned our small bedroom into a balmy haven. But full blast was a little too much for our room, and some condensation was forming on the dresser. We solved that problem by experimenting with the setting, and found that we only need to set the level relatively low on the dial for optimal humidity and no condensation.

The humidifier is ionic, and operates with no filter - a big plus for us.

We run these in each of our children's bedrooms nightly to help alleviate congestion and allergies, and the cute owl gets the job done!

Just opened it up two days ago...and have had it running for most of the day in the living room, just to try it out before baby comes. I've had a bit of a cold anyway...and it really does actually seem to help me! (Especially with our dry, forced-air heat...I should've had a humidifier for us long ago!!)

It's adorable for our owl themed nursery...and seems super easy to use...and super quiet so far.

Hopefully it works this way for a long time, and I'll be quite pleased!

I received this humidifier today, and set it up right away. It's extremely simple to set up. It is also utterly adorable. I have had it running for maybe an hour, and the air in this room is much, much better, so it works very nicely. It is very quiet. The mist is a verrry soft whisper, and there is a very soft bubbling sound of the water which I find very relaxing. It's very quiet though, and I can't imagine this could disturb anyone's sleep. I love that it's filterless as well, which was a key reason I selected this one. I am very pleased with my choice! :-)

This is a great humidifier because it look more like a decoration than anything else! It puts out a lot of mist, which keeps my baby breathing easier at night. I was so happy when I cam across this owl because I was searching for some kind of woodland animal humidifier and all I could find was the frog and the others that crane usually advertises. I'm guessing this is a new product because I've never seen them anywhere except here!

This humidifier works great and doesn't take up much room. I'm an extremely light sleeper and it barely hums when running. No more dried out nasal passages from turning up the heat in the house. And it's really cute, easy to assemble, and easy to refill.

After a week of whisper quiet mist, I followed the video cleaning instructions for maintenance, and now hear a loud growling from the motor. I gave it another rinse, it appeared to resume whisper quiet, and now it's growling again. Hoping it disappears after next cleaning...

Following instructions to the letter; because of years of previous humidifier ownership(My family has had every style, kind, type, hot, cold, etc)this particular 'critter' lasted just shy of one month.

Delivered by December 28th, it came with a flash, and now the fan has decided to "retire" itself as of January 24th. (...with a nice loud hum, and no further action to move the mist up and out.)

Yes, I will find time to contact the company during their daytime business hours - but I expected no issues due to my homework and reading reviews of fellow Amazonians - this came rather sudden and unexpected.

I have emptied it out each week, letting it completely dry during "cleaning" after the 20 minute vinegar treatment, and so forth then wiping it down 'with loving care' with a clean dry cloth, inside and out as best I could.
(It got better grooming than my cat - for heaven's sake.)

So, we will see what the shipping and insurance costs add to the once good deal-cost of owning the 'owl' Crane Ee-8189 Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier...or, if it is cheaper to find one at my local plethora of big box stores and then use this one for 'parts' as it be.

Add one more peril to the online shopping experience.
For the record, it's mate, a rather non-critter oriented plane-Jane version, purchased during the same online sitting, is doing well, and we have no complaints...Yet. Time will tell.

I have the frog version of this same brand, and with it's use, my son was able to sleep through the night for the first time in over a week. He's had viral bronchitis and has been waking up gasping for air during coughing spells. One fill-up lasts an entire almost 12-hour night with the mist on close to full blast. It shuts off on it's own if the tank runs out so that nothing burns up. Great product, great value. I couldn't find cool mist humidifiers many places.

We actually bought the penguin one but they operate the same. Very easy to use and clean. Fairly compact. Adjustable mist level. Quiet purr so it won't disturb you or your baby while sleeping. Very helpful in dry climates and easing baby's cold symptoms.
