Sleep Inducing Fluff - Dinubabear on Jun 12, 2007

I have a memory foam pillow that came with my memory foam padding for my bed, so I like softness. It was fine for sleeping on my side, but a little high for other positions. And sleeping on my belly with my arms under a thin pillow left my arms numb. So I get this pillow based on the reviews and fill it to the recommended medium setting to start out. All I can say is WOW!

The pillow seems thin, but is always the perfect height for support for every position. Face down with my arms under it, not only is my neck not sore, but my arms aren't numb. On the side it manages to support my neck as long as my shoulder isn't on the pillow. And I am finally able to sleep on my back, which other pillows didn't allow!

The only awkward part is filling, which you have to hold the pillow on its end & fill with something with a spout into its provided funnel. And it suggests you start out with 3 quarts of municipal water (with its trace of bleach to prevent mold growing inside) or adding a drop of bleach to other types of water. Then you massage the air bubbles out through the top and screw back in the cap. (If you don't get rid of the bubbles you may hear "sloshing" when you move.) It says you can change the water annually, but with the bleach purified water, and lack of replacement rubber gasket, I would never open the pillow again once I get it set.

The pillow is surprisingly heavy to carry, but you don't notice the weight on your bed, even with your arms under the pillow. And sleeping on cradling `fluff' puts me into deep, restful sleep.

The best pillow I ever had!

Great If It Doesn't Leak... - TJ on Sep 16, 2009

I LOVED this pillow more than any pillow I have ever had. All of the reviews above were true, UNTIL....the pillow started LEAKING. This was the main reason I hesitated in buying a "water" pillow in the first place, but since it got such great reviews on-line I figured it was worth a try. Then the pillow started leaking for no reason...just normal sleeping on the pillow.

There is more to the problem...
1. The water pillow is sewn inside a cloth bag so you can't patch the leak with a rafting kit because you would have to cut the cloth open and then sew it back up. (Quite frankly, I am not that crafty.)

2. The company that makes this pillow only has an email contact on their website and they don't reply to emails.

3. Basically, you pay $50 for a pillow that may last you a month and it may last two years, but either way the company does not stand behind its product. You would think a $50 pillow would come with some sort of warranty.

In short...Even though it does give a great night's sleep for someone with neck problems, I can't say that I am all that impressed with the durability. Nor am I impressed with the quality of service provided for a $50 dollar pillow. My recommendation...try a different name brand.

Best Pillow - C. Blanchard on Feb 10, 2007

You can fill this pillow with water to your desired pillow height. It conforms excellent to your head. The quality is very excellent and it is truly leak proof. It does not mat down like ordinary pillows. You would think it would feel cold with the water but the padding insulates to pure perfection. It is a bit heavy to move but that is the only downside. I like a lot of height to the pillow so added an extra pint of water to the max. recommended. It works fine!

Black Mold Health Risk - Brad the Brewer on Mar 15, 2010

I bought this pillow 9 months ago from my chiropractor. I did not notice a slow leak or any water at all draining from the reservoir. This past week, I noticed a strange odor. Then came a sore throat and cough. I looked under the pillow case to find a small area of black spots, but enough to cause a strong odor and health hazard. To make matters worse, my pregnant wife would use the pillow after I left for work! Don't risk it.

Loved The Pillow...until The Mold Beware - Stacy K. Lagemann "D on Mar 7, 2010

I loved this pillow. It did last me a couple of years. Last week I noticed that I was coughing and had what I felt was a chest cold or slight bronchitis. It didn't get better. One night I noticed that the bed was wet under the pillow. When I took off the case and the pillow protector I was greeted with a pillow with a lot of black mold on the bottom. It had apparetnly been leaking slowly enough that I didnt notice it, but allowed Mold to grow. Disgusting. I don't know that I will trust this pillow again. I went out and bought a down pillow. I might buy one again, but I will beware.

Chiroflow Leak Fungus - H. Matthew on Oct 11, 2009

We purchase 2 chiroflow pillows based on personal testimonies from the chiro office our daughter is employed with. They are very comfortable.

After a few weeks we started to smell an odor we could not identify, but it was coming from the pillow. After further inspection we saw the dreaded black spots...fungus. Obviously they were leaking, both pillows were in the mix.

We will have to go back to form fit, can't gamble with breathing something like that in all night.

Chiro Pillows Leak, Mildew And Mold - Tami Gaitten on Aug 4, 2011

I have owned two chiro pillows. I had some pretty serious neck problems and my chiropractor recommended I buy this pillow 2 years ago. After about 6 months, I started to notice dampness on my neck in the morning. I sometimes have hot flashes/night sweats, so I attributed it to that. But then I started noticing a mildew/mold odor. Investigating my pillow, I found black mold growing around the seams that attach the water pouch to the pillow under where my neck lays. I took it back to my chiropractor and although she was not convinced it was the Pillow, she gave me a new one. She said she had never had one returned before. Now, 6 months into using my new one, I am noticing the same thing. If it were due to night sweats, I would at least be noticing the dampness right away, but the problem doesn't start until months after using the pillow. My problem is that I love sleeping on it! I guess I am going to have to go on the search again for another brand or another type of pillow altogether. Just beware if you decide to buy this pillow... pay attention to odors. It is definitely a health risk to be breathing mold spores all night.

Excellent Pillow - Ellie on Sep 5, 2008

I got my first chiroflow pillow in a chiropractor's office. I was having neck and shoulder pain, and had tried tempurpedic pillows of all sorts of shapes and sizes and was still struggling with my arm falling asleep, etc. when I slept on my side. This pillow did the trick - and lasted for several years before I needed a new one.

The best thing about it is that the firmness is customizable depending on how much water you put it it. The directions are simple and the pillow is well-made (and no, it doesn't make sloshing sounds). It's a closed system, so you don't really ever need to change the water. It fits standard pillow cases.

The only "con" is that it is heavy because of the weight of the water, so not something you can toss in your suitcase to go on trips. Other than that, it's just a great product.

Don't Bother, It's Not Worth Buying. - Beth K. on Nov 2, 2009

I don't understand all the hype about this pillow. My chiropractor recommended it. I sleep on my back and my side. It's okay for a side sleeper, but not for a back sleeper. The picture shown is a cut out view of the pillow. The top of the pillow is a thick and made of simple polyfill material. The water in the bottom of the pillow is nothing more then a gimick as far as I'm concerned. It does nothing to enhanse the pillow whatsoever. It's a waste of your money. The pillow is so thick with or without the water, it's just uncomfortable to sleep on. If you're on your side it's okay, but not worth throwing your money away for. Don't bother buying the pillowcase that doesn't come with it. That's a waste of $20. It's a mildly quilted and nothing more. Just use your own pillowcase from home. After a week of using it, I went back to my feather pillow. At least with that pillow, I can adjust it to my liking.

Returned Mine - Pemberley on Dec 15, 2009

I tried it, I didn't like it. I see that some people have now commented on something I didn't like about it, which is how heavy it is once it's filled; but I didn't see such comments when I bought mine, a few months ago. In addition, I really didn't find it to be any more comfortable than any other pillows I've used. I tried varying the amount of water in it and it never did seem thick enough. One other thing, I guess my mattress tapers-off a bit around the edges, and due to that, it seemed like the water in the pillow wanted to flow to the outside, upper edge of the pillow, away from my neck and shoulder, which obviously defeats the purpose. Anyway, these were some things I didn't consider before buying the pillow. On a positive note, I had no trouble returning it and getting a refund. I think I bought mine directly from Amazon.com.

Best Pillow Ever For Me - The Balanced Libra " on Nov 28, 2009

For years i have been waking up with a sore neck and shoulders. I must have bought -- and discarded -- over a dozen specialized pillows advertised to help but none of them worked for me. Several weeks ago I bought a Chiro-flow water pillow and must say this pillow has been a miracle cure for me!! I awake with no aches or pains at all. I sleep so soundly I can't believe it.

My chiropractor said the trick to filling it properly was to use just enough water so that when you lie on the pillow on your side, that your nose is in a straight line with your spine. In other words, that the top of your head doesn't slope up or down from your chin. I filled mine with 3 quarts of water as was recommended for a medium person and that amount worked perfectly for me. But you can add more or less to suit your needs. My chiro also said to make sure to press out the air at the top of the water bag before you reclose it. He said that the few times that his patients said it didn't work for them and they brought it back to him, he found that there was still air left-- when he pressed the air out and they tried it again, they were happy.

I'm so pleased with this pillow that I'm giving this as a present to my husband and siblings this holiday so they can feel as good as I do!

Cradling - Mary on Jan 1, 2012

If you sleep on your back, it cradles your neck and comes up at the sides - kinda cozy. When on your side, I use the edge of the pillow so it doesn't puff up on me (breathing room). It reminds me of a feather pillow but is not light like one once you put water in. It gets heavy and will surprise you if you adjust your pillow frequently in the night. I've tried many different pillows... buckwheat (too noisy and hard), foam with place for head and neck(cradles but raises too much and does not allow for the stomach position), and many others. This is my favorite. Little or no headaches at waking as compared to others which were at least daily or weekly. Comes with easy instructions. Only need to replace water once a year. Water amount is adjustable. I thought I'd use the least amount for the softest but I have it midway and it's still plenty soft. My massage therapist told me about this and that she purchased through her chiropracter. I think this price is reasonable.

Wonderfil Pillow ..... Great Support .... Stays Cool In Summer - Miss Mocha Latte on Nov 29, 2011

I have been looking for a pillow that I could use in the summer months. Everything I tried was too hot until I bought this water pillow. It was recommended by my Chiropractor for the support it provided. The price was $75 and I'm sure this one is the same pillow because the packaging is identical. The support is excellent, but the bonus for me is how comfortable this pillow is all seasons of the year. Excellent buy. I am surprised by the comments about the manufacturer not backing up the product if it leaks as there's clearly a 3-year warranty against manufacturing defects advertised in the packaging that comes with the pillow. Fortunately, I've had this product for more than two years and have not had a problem.

Just Wasn't For Me. - S. Hester on Nov 28, 2011

I could see how this pillow might be comfortable for some people, especially back sleepers as the pillow conforms its shape to your head and neck; however, as a side sleeper who uses the edge of the pillow and also tosses and turns throughout the night, this pillow did not work for me. Since I tend to only use the edges of the pillow and not the center, the water fill works against me as all of the water is forced away from my head and I'm left with a flat area to sleep on. If I slept with my head in the middle of my pillow this would not be an issue. The second problem I had with the pillow is that I tend to toss and turn at night, and this pillow is VERY HEAVY and not very easy to readjust when you are half asleep. I thought I would get used to the weight, but never did. Re-positioning my pillow in the middle of the night after rolling over to switch sides is a nightmare! Finally, as many reviewers have said the water sloshes inside the pillow and makes a corresponding sloshing sound. I followed the instructions to get the excess air out of the pillow, to prevent this from happening, but the sound still remains; maybe I'm just over sensitive, but I am sure I got as much of the air out as possible (without using a wet-dry-vac).

I really wanted to love this pillow, and it was highly recommended by a coworker, but alas it just wasn't meant to be. After a full month of use, I never really got used to it let alone learned to love it. So the search for my perfect pillow continues...

Water Pillow - Channa D. Johnson on Mar 28, 2011

I think it is a great concept to combine both water and cushion for stability and comfort. You also have the capability to adjust the firmness by adjust amount of water. I've used it about 2-3 weeks and it hasn't sprung a leak :). The only problem is I have a 4 inch memory foam mattress pad and the weight of the water in the pillow makes an indentation, so I'm not sure how much it is really helping my neck support as opposed to a bed that doesn't have memory foam. All in all a good buy. Thanks!

Soft And Supple - D. Stevenson on Apr 12, 2010

This pillow is nice. I suffered from neck pain for about 3 years. At first I thought I wasted my money, but after getting the air out and deciding on the correct amount of water it started to become more comfortable. After about 5 weeks I noticed less shooting pains in my neck and shoulder.

This pillow helped ease the pain. Of course as with most people, sleeping is not the sole reason for most pain. So I'm 90% and that means a world of difference.

Found It!! - Garv on Feb 7, 2009

Finally!! No more morning headaches!! I have a large collection of pillows because I've looked in vain for something to stop morning headaches. Until now. I was a little reluctant to spend the money on yet another pillow, but I am soooo glad I did. It will take a few adjustments to find the right amount of water to use, but once you do, it's the only pillow you'll ever want.

Select The Perfect Firmness - Charles Sansone "Luc on Sep 2, 2008

This is an exciting innovation in sleep technology. The pillow can be filled with water. This allows you to adjust it to your firmness preference. I have used it for a while now, and have been enjoying restfull sleep.

Mediflow Water Pillow - K. Whelchel on Feb 8, 2008

I have tried many pillows in search for the right one. I finally found it with this pillow. It supports my neck just the way I want it to. This has got to be one of the best products I have ever ordered.

Mediflow Fiber Waterbase Pillow - C. Moore on Sep 28, 2007

The idea of the pillow is great but it is too fat for my neck and puts it at an uncomfortable angle. I tried it without the water and it was too fat before I ever put water in it.

Water Pillow Comments - Robert C. Stacconi on May 12, 2007

I found the water pillow very comfortable. It does not compress and flatten like standard pillows do. MEDIFLOW - CHIROFLOW Water Based Pillow - Water Pillow - Mediflow Fiber Padding

A Little Difficult To Get Set Up - Jamie B. on Jan 24, 2012

The product arrived very fast considering it was right before Christmas when I placed the order. I followed the directions step by step. I used the recommended amount and found that it was not enough. The problem I had during set up was getting the air out (I guess.) The directions state that if you get the air out then you "should not" hear water sloshing around when you move the pillow. Well, I heard it loud and clear. I opted to add more water for firmness and I really tried everything to get ALL the air out before sealing. FAIL! The water sloshes around even more now. I love the pillow, it is very comfortable but the water moving around makes a horrible noise when your ear is pressed right against it at night.

Water Pillow - A on Jan 22, 2012

Gave this as a Christmas gift to someone who has fibromyalgia & migraines. She loves it. She has suffered from chronic pain for many years, & if this pillow helps her to sleep & provides some comfort & relief, it is well worth the price.

Great Night Sleep - chickie on Sep 21, 2011

chiroflow water pillow gives you a great night sleep. this is not just a pillow but also therapeutic. no more stiff neck in the morning, my husband loves this. that is why when his is due for a replacement i did not hesitate to purchase another one, worth every penny. and it last longer too...

Love It So Far - izzy's mom on Sep 6, 2011

I've had it about a month now but so far it's been the best pillow, no comparison to standard, synthetic filled pillows that lose their shape in a few months. I even tried the contoured pillows that are supposed to conform and keep their shape, but even those get a hole in the middle. I don't hear the water like others have reported so I guess I got most of the air out. for the amount I've spent buying new pillows every few months, this one has been worth it and cheaper than buying it from my Chiropractor.

It's also very easy to fill and remove the excess air. I had to sleep on it one night to test how much water I needed for my own comfort. It is quite heavy once filled too.

Awesome Pillow! - NicNak "NicNak" on Aug 12, 2011

I have been looking for a pillow to help decrease my shoulder and neck discomfort while sleeping. I have previously purchased a much more expensive down pillow which didn't help. This pillow, however, has alleviated by discomfort by at least 85-90% - which is great!

Chiroflow Pillow - A Years Worth Of Sleep And No Problems - M. Hoxie on Jul 25, 2011

After 6 months of sleep loss due to pain I was willing to try anything.
Degenerative issues with both bone and discs along with a restricted spinal canal is serious business, thought I was facing surgery.
This pillow is the solution I found that works.
1 year using it so far. No problems with leaks or anything else.
It's well made and tough. I throw it on the floor when changing sheets.
This pillow gave me sleep when nothing else could. No meds and no pain for 1 whole year.
If for some reason it started leaking tomorrow, I would buy another one.

Sleep Relief - Michael J Skoglind on Jul 12, 2011

This pillow has solved my problem of one pillow not being enough and two pillows being too much. I just added water to my preference level and my neck issues have disappeared. I highly recommend this for those with neck issues and for light sleepers.

i have disc herniation on 2 discs of my neck, and i've had my chiroflow pillow for about 2 years now. i'm planning to get one for my brother and for my mom. it's the best thing for your sleep. The pillow adjusts to your head, giving you perfect support for your neck. it takes no time for me to fall asleep once my head hits the pillow. helps reduce the amount of chiropractic and physical therapy visits, and i wake up much rested and rejuvenated.
