Editorial Reviews
Champion Blue Underpads (Chux) are the most absorbent standard blue chux available. They are latex-free with a diamond embossed quilt pattern. Protects bedding, furniture, or wheelchairs from leakage. Designed with a highly absorbent embossed core and soft, quick-drying coverstock. (4 bags of 25)

Don't expect these to do the job of plastic mattress protector, or the heavy duty pads you can wash and reuse, but for travel or something like we use them for, they're good. I'd recommend them to anyone going through the phase most kids go through as they're potty training, and still have accidents at night, but for the most part are dry. They're also good for kids who are heavy sleepers who wake once they start to urinate - as long as they don't get too wet.
I don't think they'd do the job for elderly people who don't have any bladder control at night. They're just not heavy duty enough, but could be used in addition to the plastic mattress protector, cloth and rubber wetness protection, the fitted sheet, and then the underpad.
They are good for the elderly when wearing an adult night time diaper. When used between the person wearing the diaper and the bed, it provides one extra layer of protection. Hospice used these the last few days before my mom passed on. Up until then she was able to make it to the bathroom, but in the last 3 days she needed Depends and an underpad so her bedding would remain dry. Not something we want to think about, but good to know things like that are out there when they're needed.
I actually bought these through Amazon for a cheaper price ($/underpad) from a different supplier; a bad mistake ("Kendall Disposable Tendersorb Underpads, 17.5 X 24 (Case of 300)" supplied by Direct Care Store). The packaging was not up to par and arrived damaged at my doorstep. The shipping tape on the cardboard box tore open and since the underpads were not in any type of bags, some of the underpads were dirty and/or torn. I was trying to save a few bucks and it wound up costing me more in the end.
These are not cheap and they seem to hold alot of liquid so I did a test with the 17x24 underpads and poured 2 cups directly on it. It easily soaked up the 2 cups - I did a third cup and it also held but the pad was completely saturated at this point. No liquid leaked out underneath.
I put my hand on the pad and my hand got very wet - so while this pad may be great at preventing liquid from passing through it, it will not keep skin or whatever is next to it from getting wet.
Seems there is a huge difference between the name brand Champions and the generic Chux. We have excellent leak protection for the table when the baby urinates, the cotton is thick enough to be comfortable and they are heavy enough that they don't fly away.
After reading many of the other reviews for the generic ones, we chose to go with these by buying 25 for a trial and now I'm even taking them into work to show co-workers who also just had a baby. We'll buy this brand again.
I am pleased with the results.
Definitely highly recommended as we now carry a few everywhere we go. Some are in the diaper bag, some in the car, some at home.
If we're changing our child, she's on top of one of these. I can't tell you how many diarrheas, blowouts, waterfalls, and other spontaneous acts of nature have been caught (and overcome) by these pads.
They've never leaked through the bottom once!
Once we have better access to a washer/dryer, we'll reduce our use of these pads to be more environmentally conscientious.
These are also perfect for diaper changes in public bathrooms. I don't like putting anything on those changing pad stations...not even the changing pad that comes with my diaper bag. These are perfect because they're disposable. Good price for the number of pads that you get.
I'll just leave a few thoughts:
These pads are so thin, that they just can't hold much liquid.
However, pads should be changed nearly every time they are soiled...so it forces me to keep things cleaner.
I don't mind using more of them since they don't cost much.
I have a back up (thicker) set of pads when I know I'll be gone for an extended period of time.
