My wife often complained about by snoring. There appeared little I could do other than sleeping in the guest room. Then, after I communicated her complaints to my primary physician, I underwent a sleep test. Suddenly the problem became clear. According to the doctor, I was getting very little sleep and my health was deteriorating.
In the test they found that I awakened about three hundred times during the night. They explained that when I became relaxed my Uvula relaxed and closed off my trachea. When I would stop breathing my system would awaken me enough that I could take a breath, but not fully awaken. Since it was happening over three hundred times each night, I was getting little REM sleep.
So I found Breathe Right strips. I do not understand the technology, but somehow I no longer snore and I get better sleep. I strongly recommend these to anyone who snores, and even people who are tired all the time - maybe you do not know you have a problem, I didn't. Personally, I intend to use these little marvels every night.
BTW: Many months later, my physicians ordered a CPAP machine for me to use while sleeping. With the combination of CPAP and Breathe Right, my sleep has improved greatly and my health has improved.
Now the bad news. In November 2010, I purchased several more boxes of Breathe Right and have been experiencing a problem in the morning. The adhesive that sticks to your nose is pulling away from the plastic band that pulls your nose out from normal position. So I wake up in the morning with only partially open nose passages. It appears that GlaxoSmithKline has a quality problem with the strips. Maybe they are having them made by another factory (OFFSHORE) and that is the problem with the quality.
I tried the tan version first. Horrible. I had a red welt across the bridge of my nose in two days where the adhesive ripped my skin off, even after trying to loosen them up in the shower.
I went to the clear strips which have lower adhesive properties. Perfect, I now sleep through the night, and I can remove them in the morning without removing flesh.
A tip I've learned when putting them on. Take off only 1/2 of the sticker backing. Use the center line as a guide and place it directly in the middle of your nose. Press the sticky side down on the side of your nose, pull off the other 1/2 of the sticker backing and press on your nose. This way the strip will be perfectly centered on your nose.
If I don't put one of these little guys on before I go to bed, I get a happy, little nudge from the wife telling me to put it on or go sleep in the guest room.
The clear version is easy to remove with no pain. The tan ones do seem to stick more like a band-aid and pull more when they are removed. Based on that I like the clear version better.
I wish they would make a little bigger strips, with methol but this is the biggest one they make.
for the times he has to lay back in the chair for a prolonged procedure. He's been using them for years. Get them from amazon on their subscription
service.
I told my doctor I was using them and he approved saying that the strips did improve air flow and that if they seemed to help my sleep then continue using them.
All that being said the difference between having one on and not is incredible. it makes me wish I could wear one everywhere I go all the time.
The best on the market. On one occasion, after running out of Breathe Right brand strips, I reluctanly tried another store brand of strips. With the store brand, I felt like I was ripping the skin off my nose when I removed the strip the next morning. Not only that but it felt like I had a large bandage on my nose all night.
With the Breathe Right strips, I do feel a little bit of a let down the next morning when I remove it. As breathing through your nose returns to normal. Must be because they work so good.
Highly recommended purchase through Amazon.
They might help for better sleep, more oxygen in general (for sports or illnesses) or to reduce snoring.
They can be easily put across the nose in the correct place (instructins included). Removal with water is easy. Rarely some skin irritations (red skin) might be possible for sensitive skin.
They improve airflow signficantly. Therefore, they reduce snoring significantly. It does not necessarily remove all snoring effects depending on your symptoms. Check out the "British Snoring & Sleep Apnoea Association" to find out which products suits your needs best to improve or remove snoring.
For me these strips together with the mouth piece "snore no more" completely stops all snoring.
Breathe right produces a newer stronger version that I use. These were a bit weak at lifting open the nasal passage and I'd still sore a bit with these on.
Their other products are much better.
was able to stop using nasal spray!
does not stop the snoring totally but its no where near as bad.
I would suggest just placing it on the nose as directed and to not re-adjust / pinch the strip in an attempt to make it 'work better'. It actually works best when it's 'loosely placed'.
The bad - they won't make you look sexy. It's not cool admitting that you are getting older and are snoring so loud that it bugs your spouse. Also I have to scrub my nose a little extra in the morning due to the sticky residue.
The good - these things actually work and they're cheap. My wife says that I haven't snored since I started using these. I can't tell a difference in sleeping but I'll take her word for it.
It seems the newer models' aero wings don't contact my skin enough. The adhesive may be different too.
Buy them without a doubt you won't regret it!!!!!!!!!
I have them sent to me every 3 months from Amazon.com. Thanks to them I don't ever have to worry about running out because they ship them to me without fail on time all the time !!!! I highly recommend both Breathe Right and Amazon.com as without them both I'd be lost !!
Sincerely,
Terri Abramson
Reduce snoring: 0/5 same as before
Helps congestion: 5/5 all the time, every time
Helps sleep: 4/5 no doubt
Helps headache: 3/5 once in awhile
Helps with sinus: 2/5 occasionally
Easy to use: 3/5 it does not leave glue residue like other brands but it comes off every now and then (on clean nose)
Value for the money: 1/5 sadly they monopolized the market
Now I wonder how marathoners run with these for couple hours without this coming off?
However, after having used them for several weeks, I can't say I've noticed any difference in myself. They did open my nasal passages more, it's true, but they didn't help me with my snoring or not getting a good night's sleep.
I guess each user is different. They may be worth your trying them: they worked (with the nasal strips) for my Dad, but not for me. They're inexpensive enough that they're worth a shot for anyone who has a problem with snoring or sleep apnea.
They worked for me and for my father and brother.
If you think these may work for you then you should seriously think about talking to your doctor to make sure you don't have a serious problem with your breathing while sleeping. My father finally checked with his doctor and did a sleep test that showed he needed more than just this product. He used one of those cpak(?) machines for several years.
Anyway. I had to stop using them because the adhesive, so necessary for them to work properly, was irritating the skin of my nose. I was very disappointed since the strips do work as advertised.
One thing that did annoy me, without regard to the adhesive problem, was that I could see the thingy on my nose. Like having those annoying moving flash ads on websites that draw your attention away from the article you are trying to read. I never got used to that but I wasn't able to use them very long so I assume you can get used to it if it bothers you too.
I'm giving them 5 stars because my brother and father loved them and didn't have my problems at all with them. I don't blame the product for not ultimately working for me (very fair skinned).
Give them a try but don't buy a boatload till you are sure they work well for you.

I use the large strips as I have a large nose, but my small nosed girlfriend has no problem using the large ones by placing them higher up her nose and at an angle.
Other thoughts: If you want to see sparks fly, open the individual packaging in the dark.
