Editorial Reviews
BIOFREEZE was created by Dr. Danné King, an internationally known botanical chemist. BIOFREEZE contains an herbal extract from a South American holly shrub. ILEX is used around the world in various health and wellness formulations. The result is a fast-acting, deep penetrating, long lasting pain reliever. BIOFREEZE can effectively help relieve pain from sore muscles, muscle sprains, back, shoulder, neck pain, arthritis, painful ankle, knee, hip and elbow joints, and muscular strains. Use BIOFREEZE to relieve pain prior to ultrasound treatments, massage therapy, soft tissue trigger point therapy, rehabilitation exercises and pre and post workout stretching.

I purchased this to use on my clients, but also tried it on myself. I'm still not sure what all the hype has been about? I feel that it is mediocre at best. Fortunately for me, I purchased it on sale. I would have been even more disappointed had I paid full price. Better than using nothing, but I would recommend the convenience of over-the-counter products - such as; "Icy-Hot" or my favorite (and my clients' favorite) "Blue Goo". I believe the Biofreeze relies solely on the menthol? Blue Goo also has menthol, but more importantly has Emu oil - a natural anti-inflammatory and Arnica (natural pain relief), in addition to other ingredients. My clients LOVE Blue Goo - but (like myself) were not been overly impressed by the Biofreeze. I used it on one of my most loyal clients - and she specifically requested the Blue Goo AFTER I had applied the Biofreeze. That spoke volumes to me.
I appear to be in the minority here - as I have read the other glowing reviews on it. Perhaps my expectations may have been a little too high because of the other reviews? In my opinion Biofreeze falls short and it's highly unlikely that I will ever purchase it again (unless, perhaps, they come out with a new formula that also incorporated Emu and/or Arnica, etc. into it?).
Forget Mineral Ice, Icy Hot and all the rest!
This may appear a little expensive but, in the long run, it's not. It actually costs me less. At WalMart, an 8oz tub of Mineral Ice costs around $7.40 (after tax). BioFreeze is in a 32oz pump bottle, costing $36.65 (there are smaller sizes available). This is $7.05 more than 32oz of Mineral Ice. BUT:
1) With the pump, I use alot less (about 1 1/2 teaspoons will relieve my entire knee) because, I don't have to "scoop" it out with my fingers. "Scooping" usually means taking more out than needed, getting it between the fingers and/or dropping some.
2) BioFreeze relieves deeper and alot longer. Although these 2 items are very similar in texture and spreadability; the 1 1/2 teaspoons dressing will relieve my knee for about 8 hours. I usually need to re-apply Mineral Ice every 3 or 4 hours.
In summary: You will use less and get deeper and longer relief.
Try it you'll like it!
Thank you,
Carol
